If I took 2 classes per semester it seems doable - I'm not so scared lol Sad that I can't complete any prereqs simply because of my high school schedule! darn my commitment! lol

So I'm just focusing with polishing my math skills and refreshing my brain :) Did your prereqs look like mine?

Yes mines did but since I live in a different state than you, my class names are different. Ur still in high school?

Yeah I'm a Senior and my parents say I need to look into all of nursing school *prereqs* - as well as focusing on high school and reading everything I can now to get me familiar with any of my prereqs as well as maybe a book or two about nursing which sounds like a lot but I've been preparing for future events since I was in 7th grade lol

example: 7th grader preparing for high school math by doing work out of high school books - yeah it's that serious.

You probably wouldn't even be able to comprehend anything that's on the nursing books.

Try reading your biology books since you'll learn more from your books than the actually lesson itself.

Wow... That's rude. I went to a vocational LPN program a long time ago during my junior and senior year of high school and I understood it just fine. There is nothing wrong with her wanting to get ahead.

I would make your high school classes your main focus, honestly.

Wow. Don't burn yourself out with doing this because the nursing program is tough. A&P 1&2 are tough pre reqs. Study you're biology first. To give you an insight of a little A&P, we had to learn the Latin names for body parts and different types of cuts for observation.

Oral

Otic

Nasal

Mental

Those are Latin names in the face (there are over 60 names in total)

(and many more!)

Then you also have to learn the muscles, bones, brain, the cutaneous organ, eyes, and then how processes work on a cellular level. And that's just a quarter of the iceberg. There is a lot to know that requires a very good memory.

I think there would be nothing wrong with picking up a an A&P book. I need to go over this stuff as I feel like it was really crammed in when I took it a couple semesters ago. There really is so much info, that I think it would help just about anyone to revisit this stuff, and take your time with it. I don't think it will be over your head. You seem very dedicated, and like most things, that what it takes to learn this stuff.

Are you planning on going into ADN or BSN program?

Do you mean when you are in college you would take only 2 pre reqs a semester? or while you are still in high school you are thinking of that? For college, I try to keep a full time status every semester so 4-5 classes at a time. Your pre requisites look pretty standard. Try to make a "course sequence" sheet where you write down which classes you will try to take for every semester (this only works for the nursing pre reqs because once you are in the actual nursing school, usually they assign you a schedule). I recommend doing this because it will keep you organized/on track and then you can make sure you don't have to take pre reqs for your pre reqs (like I had to take bio 101 in order to take A & P). If you really want to start to prepare, I recommend what the others said above about getting familiarized with basic biology. Also, try to get used to a heavy amount of studying. I did more home work in high school, but now it's more studying in college. Good luck to you on your senior year
