  1. Unless you're head boss, even doctors, unless the have their own private practice, takes orders from higher ups. As a nurse, I think if you want to tell other nurses what to do, become a DON.
  2. Sorry I meant 16 in the spring. But no problem. Well I wish her luck
  3. It goes by GPA! there are 64 seats in the fall and I believe 16 in the morning! You are required to submit a background check, have various shots done such as a ppD test, varicella, etc. And you have to at least complete math 092 or have an exemption from it due to a high diagnostics score .
  4. I just got accepted into the nursing program!! I've stressed myself day in and day out and received a 4.0 for the LPN nursing program! I actually teared up and I'm a guy lol. My hard work has finally paid off! I've purchased my 101 book and began reading it and Nightingale is definitely an inspiration and I can't wait to learn more! Anything else I should expect? Btw, is there nursing students that attend worwic?
  5. I'm currently finished all of my LPN prereqs in 2012 and waiting for acceptance into the program this fall. But I've been reading about how new grads are having a difficult time finding jobs and I was wondering are female students that are new grads are at a disadvantage since male nurses aren't rare but aren't a vast majority have a better time getting a job as a new grad. I also live in Salisbury, MD (eastern shore) but I plan to move across be bridge to the Baltimore-Towson area.
  6. Yea well I'm assuming you mean ur going to work as an EMT-B I think they get paid around $10hr but it always depend where you work. I was talking to my friend today and she said her friend was a paramedic and only made $13hr. Again, it's all in where you're working at
  7. I'm just at wor wic community college in Salisbury Maryland. I applied for the spring and I'm waiting to hear back
  8. I have a 4.0GPA for the nursing program andI'm waiting to here if I get accepted in the next few months.
  9. Well I cant think of anything that I wished to study more because I like perfection when it comes to grades. So I personally study anything I could. And how long have you been out if school? If its like 4yrs+ I believe you have to retake them. But for any useful advice, taking A&P 1&2 before nutrition and microbiology really helped as the basis to micro and nutrition have mostly been derived from A&P 2.
  10. Yea I'm going to save you a lot of time and useless motivation ********. If you have four children and work TWO jobs, it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE for you to do the nursing program if that is your major. You do realize that in addition to nursing classes, you have clinicals which lasts a solid eight hours excluding driving time to get to your hospital site? If you're serious about nursing, you need to find a way to free up your time because nursing is four days a week and in the weekends, you're studying for Monday.
  11. Well sounds good to me. Take a few classes at a time to get the feel for it because your A&P classes will be the toughest. If you can't quit your job and if you're serious about doing nursing as this is not an easy choice such as ordering pizza, try moving somewhere less expensive if you don't already own a house. Moving s expensive short term but in the long run I won't be. Are your children old enough to watch themselves? Remember they also have online courses you can take...except your biology classes. Believe.
  12. First of all, LVN/LPN isnt a ADN nor is it a BSN. It's a certificate of proficiency which only takes a year to get. LVN is nursing and it's only hard I assume because you have to learn he basis of nursing. This first of anything is difficult because the basis isn't there yet. Here, you will be learning about child delivery, doing clinicals, and basic patient care. However, LVN's are more suitable for nursing homes and a FEW hospitals but hospitals are Wesson LPN's out and shifting their job to RN's. RN is where you get technical and advance training and this is where the true degrees starts. The first is obviously your ADN where u will learn how to administer shots, critical thinking is upped a bit, and I assume you will be dealing with a variety of illness and diseases. Your BSN of nursing is where you can take a supervisory or administrative position or break off into a specialty nurse I believe. You have child delivery nurses, wound care nurses, ER nurses, etc. this will take 4yrs+.
  13. Well first of all, how much you need to study, how many hours u need to cut at work, and how "difficult" the workload for classes could be depend on how many classes you take. For me, I took five classes equaling to 15 credits straight off the back. He work load was intense and I had no social life really because my admission is based in my GPA so I had to get all A's in my five pre req courses . Depending on how your college accepts students into heir nursing program via GPA, ACT, TEAS scores, previous clinical experience, or just plain lottery, that also plays a crucial role on how "difficult" your life may become. A&P will be the most important class and really the pre basis to nursing so getting A&P down like it's your sons life depends on it is essential and in no way am I exaggerating because if your school goes by GPA and your nonchalant and not really caring about you science grades, your chances diminish of getting in. But check around ur school to see how they accept students into their program.
  14. There are those billing people that workin hospitals
  15. I applied already and next month I get to hear whether I got accepted or not! The wait is killing me!
