I am going to be taking A&P 1 in the Fall and I noticed the flashcards. Arehey helpful for the class or was making your cards better?

For me it was better to make my own because with each professor's teaching methods being so different and depending on what book your school uses can vary from the information in the flashcards. I had to take it twice due to a death in my family during the middle of the semester the first time I took it so I experienced 2 different professors. The first professor wanted you to memorize from his notes and discard the information in the text but the 2nd professor was completely opposite. The things that worked for me was:

Repetition, Anything on the quiz for the most part was on the quarterly exam, on Amazon I spent less than $10 for a cd with songs that are only about A&P they are by "Lisa Jones Bromfield" (these helped me alot), I also found a few videos on youtube, besides these there are a few websites that have free online games for A&P if you search in google they should come right up. I hope this helps :)

I did both. I just took A&P1 in a 5 week course and got an A. I think I had about 600+ flash cards of my own (the ones with the rings). I know I used the Anatomy Flashcards for barrons more for muscles/bones than anything. I also wrote out questions over and over until test day. I got a white board for the physiology stuff+different colored markers but that's more for A&P2 which I'm in now.

Netter makes excellent flash cards. However useful, they weren't as useful for me in A&P as they were for my friends in PT or Chiropractic school. The ones I used turned out to have ENTIRELY TOO MUCH information on them (which is good and bad). I ended up studying and knowing a alot of stuff that wasn't required for our curriculum (which is good and bad), great to have them premade with the spelling and great drawings, however it proved to be quite the distraction at times sorting through what I needed to know come test-time.

For me, part of the learning comes from making my own. The process of writing them out is one more step toward knowing the material and not just memorizing facts.

I bought the flash cards in my school bookstore but never used them. It helped me more to write out my own. For the physiology part there are a lot of processes. (example: cellular respiration, muscle contraction) it helped me to write the process in essay format, make flash cards for vocab, then print off pictures of bones, muscles, etc. and put them in document protectors and practice labeling over and over.

Our lab and lecture was split to where we did phys in lecture and anatomy in lab. Our lab tests consisted of pictures projected on a white screen and we had X amount of time to write the name of whatever was on the picture. The first test like that I got a C bc I didn't really know how to study. Then I tried the doc protectors and got A's.

I would ask your teacher how s/he plans on testing and study in whichever format the tests will be.

Good luck!!

I bought flashcards from my bookstore for just the anatomy part. It listed the different bones(and parts), muscles, etc. I found it extremely useful for the identification part of my class. The flashcards had answers on the back so I could write on the front and then check myself. I loved them.

This is the set I have:

Amazon.com: Anatomy Flashcards (9781427796943): Stephanie Mccann, Joanne Tillotson: Books

Writing out flash cards helps you to understand it. Then going back through them and looking at them reinforces the material. I highly suggest at the very least you write your own, and then maybe use the others as a supplement.

Thank you all for your helpful ideas and advice. I am going to use some of the hints that were mentioned here. I had taken A&P back in 2002 and 2003 and I am having to take the course over to it being over 5 years old.

Sams club has Anatomy flashcards. I thought they were priceless.

In my Anatomy class we had to learn all bones, and many muscles and origination and insertion points. During lab we had "bone boxes" with skeleton models, but lab was just once a week.

I kept the flashcards with me all the time and studied whenever I had a few minutes. If they have too much info, just highlight the bones/muscles/organs you need on each card. Got a 98% in the class.

Save your money and make your own! Just writing them out, even if I never looked at it again, helped tremendously.

I just finished 2 semesters of API and APII. I had almost 2000 flashcards! It was physically painful to throw them away. :lol2:

I bought the flashcards and I started a Quizlet account. Both proved to be very helpful. I work full time so I didn't really have the time to make my own. Check out the Quizlet websiteand then download a free complimentary app to your phone or iPod and there you go! Hope this helps...
