Advice on Schedule Please!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Ok so i just finished my 1st semester of college!! (i have a long way to go!) and i chose my courses for my spring semester:

-Anatomy & Physiology 1

-English composition

-Stats

-Intro to Psych

-Into to Sociology

Now i was talking to someone and when i told them my schedule, they told me taking psych and socy wasnt a good fit together, especially while im taking A&P1 along with stats! I wanted to know if anyone thought that taking psych and socy together was a little too much or is that person just OVERexaggerating??? :)

I didn't take a&p yet so I can't speak for that, but I did take psychology and sociology. That person is really over exaggerating!!! You can definitely take them both together. They are pretty easy and very similar. Psychology is studying the individual and sociology is studying a group of people. In my opinion they go pretty good together. Statistics is hard, don't forget to use rate my professor. I didn't and had the worst professor which forced me to drop it. If I looked him up before I took it then I would never have chosen his class. He went over one homework question in class, wouldn't answer questions, and gave us the next lesson. From what I have heard a&p is a lot of studying. English composition wasn't too bad. Your course load seems doable if you put in all your effort you will do great!

I strongly disagree that psych and soci don't go we'll together. I didn't take them at the same time but, having taken them both, it is my opinion that they definitely overlap and expand upon one another.

My only other thought is that it seems like a lot of hours. I took A&P I, Stats, government and speech this semester and it was quite a full load for me. My struggle was mainly balancing A&P with stats. However, if you are single/childless (unlike myself), I'm sure it is doable with a bit of effort.

Good luck! :)

You will be fine... intro psych & socy are sooo easy! A & P 1 with statistics isn't hard either since you will only have 1 science course. Good luck!

I was going to say the same thing...Im sure you will be fine...you may end up with a lot of papers to complete while studying but not impossible.

A&P I will require the most study time.

Psych and sociology were really easy at my school. I got A's without really trying.

English Comp... same as above.

Stats is just a lot of drawn out problems.

I think that's a really great schedule!

Specializes in SRNA.

Looks like a busy semester :D Does your A&P also have a lab?

Sounds busy but doable. I would be more worried about a&p with stats than psych and soc together, though...they're not hard classes. Basically, you already have a real life knowledge about psychology and sociology, the classes just kind of explain them to you in theories and such.

that person is over exaggerating! A&P will take most of your time, it's not difficult just a lot of information to comprehend. psych & socio should be cake and I'm not sure about stats! good luck! :)

That schedule is fine. I think u shud seriously worry about stats and A&P. Psychology is fun sometimes but sociology is very boring. But other than that, they're manageAble

Stats kicked my butt! I took it with Chem II and I got through it, but it was the most stressful semester I had ever had. I took Stats on line (which was the only way it was offered) and we would have 68-80 homework problems a week, plus two discussions. I feel that if I had been able to take it in a classroom, it wouldn't have been nearly as hard. A&P is going to be challanging, and you will be writing A LOT of papers in your English Comp class. I took psych and sociology together and it was fine, they are both very interesting classes.

Psychology and Sociology were easy classes but I wouldn't take them together. Both of those classes contain alot of information separately. Together might be a little frustrating. You will be beyond bored & maybe even a little overwhelmed if you take two psycho-social classes at the same time! However, you probably will be fine. I haven't took Stats yet, but A&P I was memorization. A&P 2 is when it gets difficult! English Comp is alot of writing. Of course, composing an essay takes time & alot of thought, especially if you want an A. Good luck in the spring :)
