my dear fellow nurses and friends,

greetings of love and peace!

my term as president of the philippine nurses association ended on december 30, 2008. the membership of our national organization increased from 30,137 in 2006 to 104,336 in 2008. programs and activities were generated to prepare our nurses to be globally competitive. in 2007, the nclex was brought to our country. continuing professional education and training programs are underway. the socio-economic welfare of our nurses were promoted by projects that uplift and protect their image. position statements and press conferences/newspaper releases were made. mass actions/ lobbying in the senate and congress were done on issues affecting nursing profession. also, networking and linkages were established to advance the life purpose of the philippine nurses association.

but experiencing the sad plight of nurses on salaries and work conditions here and abroad, there is a need to uplift their political rights hence the birth of the ang nars movement. this is where we need to unite and work together.

let us make our vision come true - we will be a strong association. by 2010, we are a party-list with representation in congress. with one voice, let us work hard! we will succeed! because we are the filipino nurses, the best nurses in the world!

we can do it. we need to help each other and we will get it. please give your comments, opinions, suggestions especially during this organizational period. let us keep in touch. [/u] .

sincerely,

(sgd) leah primitiva g. samaco paquiz

president

vision

we envision ang nars to be an association with a strong political force of nurse advocates for rights and social responsibility in the global community.

mission

ang nars is an association of nursing professionals who are nurse advocates for rights and social responsibility who :

- pledge to organize and coordinate efforts and available resources;

- empower the nursing sector and

- promote the rights and welfare of filipino nurses here and abroad.

it aims to win a congressional party list seat in the may 10, 2010 national elections.

it shall endeavor to enlist all filipino nurses here and abroad, including the significant number of absentee voters in other countries, mobilizing their families and friends for the much needed command votes.

it shall strongly advocate to help the many marginalized ang nars members, that will ultimately redound to the greater benefit of the sick, and the impoverished.

motto

nurses, nurses unite!

Thanks for posting. This sounds promising. :)

I believe they won't have problem on garnering the needed votes considering the number of nurses here in the Phils. I think they should just make their group and advocacy known to the nurses and they would get their needed support.

this would be great! partylist for nurses!

If every RN will vote for the party list, it will surely win.. ^_^

there's one thing we should remember. being political does not always mean that we should be tied up with a political icon. Political also means Advocacy.... Go nurses go!!!

nurses should be represented because most Filipinos nowadays are either studying nursing, nursing graduates, nursing graduates, registered nurses, 2nd coursers etc. I think we are the most number of registered professionals here in the Philippines. I hope that the said partylist (which I will surely vote) will do its job and represent the nurses in the Congress. Just a suggestion, please do pass a bill increasing the salary grade of nurses from Salary Grade 12 to a grade higher at least.

I would love to have a partylist for nurses especially if it would help us improve the working conditions in the country. Given the number of nurses, it would have a pretty good chance. Best of Luck!

What can I say? A brillian move to the founder(s). It's about time. I think, if ever, this will be the first time, nurses will have a representation in the government. I just hope this is not going to be politicized and influenced by just "a few."

I applaud the move, I will truly support and I truly hope we will succeed.

Cheers! Count me in! :wink2: :)

why is it that there's a membership fee for this NARS movement when most registered nurses are just Resting Nurses without any jobs.

Hi,

The reason why there's a required membership fee, because the money that will be gathered will be used for the campaign materials. Please support the party list and share it to all of your friends in the nursing world. This was founded by the former President of the PNA. I met her before the launch of this party list, she has a good heart, she cares for the welfare of all nurses that is why she came up with this party list.

By the way, ANG NARS still needs volunteers all around the philippines, volunteers will help the party promote it to the nursing community in your area. If interested please let me know...

Wow I hope you guys succeed! You definitely get my vote! :yeah:

Please continue updating us.

You can definitely count me in!
