when i was in nursing school, i used to be the live dummy in our assessment class wherein i was asked to remove my shirt and be a dummy patient for sponge bath for about an hour (imagine our instructor explaining every detail of each procedure). i do not find that wrong because i do have the right to refuse in case i did not want to. i dont think that your friend was totally naked during the whole class and i think it was done for a very educational prupose. i can also feel that volunteering for a while can help classmates and it is a first hand information if you learn a procedure that was done to yourself. we also had our IM return demonstrations in our buttocks.'
  2. that link is the pdf file about jean watson's human caring theory http://www.ghs.org/uploadedFiles/ghsorg/Nursing/Watsons_Theory_of_Caring0806%5B1%5D.pdf my only tip for you is not to take the theory literally and explore further about the aspects of human caring. people together can already portrait caring and we, filipinos, caring is something innate to us like our "bayanihan" spirit, motherly love and close family ties. i know this advise is already too as the 1st semester is about to start now.
  3. there's one thing we should remember. being political does not always mean that we should be tied up with a political icon. Political also means Advocacy.... Go nurses go!!!
  4. i agree with that... i checked bonphilippines.org because it is where i read about NARS once. At first, I thought it was an organization, but upon reading i was informed that this program of the Philippine Government in cooperation with the Department of LAbor and Employment will be hiring nurses to the 1000 poorest towns in the country. They are the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th class municipalities. Nurses under the NARS program will be receiving P8,000 monthly allowance or P366 per day in a 40 work-week basis. The problem now is here... the expected outcomes aren't clear and taks of nurses are not that specific. The program targets newly graduated nurses and the program is new to all. What are the possible effects of this program then. Nurses are also expected to do political advocacy in which recruitment will also be the same way as its principle. Is this really the solution for the oversupply of nurses in the country and the dminishing quality of the Health Care Delivery System? We need your stand...
  5. most nurses in our country who take up master's degree is for promotion in the Admin level. We do not have spcial practitioners yet and so, taking an MSN degree will only be useful for Academic Purposes
  6. Saint Louis University in Baguio City Offers MSN maj in MCN, Psych, Adult Health i do not know the other schools. They say that the New Master's Degree Program in Union Christian College in the City of San Fernando La Union where they offer both MS and MA. Unfortunately, this is the maiden year of the Master's Programs of the School MA degrees are also available in the States but not as popular as the MSN as what my friend told me a couple of nights ago
  7. 77.6%, i do can't remember all the figures but the 4 exams were 80+something and the other one is 69... whoooo that was close
  8. when i first had a very good CI way back sophomore college, i told myself that i will be a CI too, and will be the best in the school where i took my high school now with a nursing school. Now that i am already working as i planned, next things i should do shall be a. finish my Master's Degree b. Establish networks in our school via on-line and traditional venues c. further enhance our students' level of knowledge d. boost the morale of our co-CI's despite of our not-so-high salaries
