PGH feedback
Yes, UP-PGH has a 4-month (August 24 to December 4, 2009) Clinical Nursing Enhancement Program (CNEP) which costs Php 5,000 and is ONLY offered for registered nurses who have limited and/or not actively practiced the profession for five (5) consecutive years. The CNEP is different from the 6-month Advancement Program in Clinical Nursing (APCN) which is offered for registered nurses who want to gain clinical experience at the Philippine General Hospital. I'm not sure about it but what I know from other nurse applicants is that undergoing training at the PGH does not guarantee you a slot in the Nurse Proficiency Exam (NPE). My girlfriend who has undegone the 6-month APCN training last year still had to queue early in the morning at the DNRD office just to submit her requirements and get the much coveted slot for the NPE. In my own experience, I had to queue at around 5 in the morning at the PGH lobby just to get a slot for the submission of requirements. After submission of requirements, an applicant should pass the NPE and then be scheduled for a panel interview. If she/he passes the panel interview, then she/he must wait for the final interview with the Deputy Director of Nursing Services. After that, he/she becomes part of the manpower pool and waits for deployment. Long, tedious process of waiting...waiting...waiting...

@xfactorgirl and others who have passed the panel interview and awaiting for the final interview at PGH: I suggest you update your resume and submit your recently-attended seminars/workshops certificates to the Nursing Service Office at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) so they'll know that you are still interested. I just updated mine yesterday. Good luck to us and God bless! :wink2:

To answer your question, I need to know if you have completed and passed all requirements particularly, IVT license? The Chief Nurse of BMC has reiterated this that nurse volunteers who wish to apply at BMC should be IVT licensed (ANSAP). So if you have completed the requirements, then you will be included in the next batch. This is what's weird about the NSO (Nursing Service Office) of BMC, they don't tell you if you're included in the next batch. In my own experience, I passed the requirements and a few days before the start of the training, I went to the NSO and they just told me to show up in the orientation in my white duty uniform at the JICA bldg. If you have BLS or ACLS certification/s, the better, the NSO will assign you in special areas. That's what they're doing now unlike in previous batches (including myself) we were rotated in the special areas even without BLS or ACLS. Now the NSO requires certification for special area deployment. I suggest you call the NSO to save you time and effort. Good luck and God bless.

how can i be a nurse midwife here in phillipines
I went to PRC Manila this afternoon and there aren't any new requirements for nurses who want to take the midwifery examinations. A RN needs to complete the 20 actual deliveries, 5 sutures, and 5 IV push meds. Fee is P600 for filing.

Do I need to undergo basic suturing and wound closure workshop sponsored by the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP) before I can complete the cases for the Midwifery Licensure exam requirements? Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Basic ECG Course
They say reading ECGs is a skill that you hone by practice accdg to my ECG workshop instructor. It's hard to identify and I had headaches when I had my workshop. Now, I'm trying to practice as much as I can with an ECG workbook and a caliper. Good luck and God bless.

Thanks gambutrol. You're right, that was what the chairman and the members of the panel told us that we should continue to go on trainings and volunteer programs because of the 6 months (plus) waiting for the final interview. And if we are employed for one year from a tertiary hospital, then we could apply for Nurse II position for PGH. Unfortunately, it's difficult to apply for tertiary hospitals right now with the surplus of nurses. I'm planning to go on volunteer training (again) in a government hospital (again) after my ACLS this July. And of course, ceaseless prayers and unseizing faith that my heart's desire will be answered by God. God bless.
