UPenn Direct Entry BSN/MSN 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everybody,

I couldn't find a thread for UPenn but is anybody else applying?

The email said one week before they plan it to be scheduled + they would work with each applicant on timing (if needed).

Hope to get it by Monday then...

The phone interviews are between the 1st and the 19th so I guess there's still a lot of time...They're probably gonna be busy with in person interviews first I'm guessing.

Ahhhh my interview is 8 days away x__x

I got an email! My interview will be held by a senior lecturer. That sounds intimidating. It seems like the interview is 30 minutes long.

I got my email too! Yayy I'm getting nervous/excited!! ...what's happening between our interviews and lunch?

Hi Everyone! I am applying for the Second degree BSN. I have my phone interview tomorrow at 2:30EST. I'm very nervous but I'll let you all know how it goes and what to expect:)

Hi guys,

I just wanted to say good luck to everyone applying! I'm a current accelerated BSN student at penn and I was in your shoes just last year! As I was reflecting on my past, I randomly thought about allnurses.com and how useful it was for me last year so I thought I'd offer to help if you guys have any questions! I might not be able to answer all of them, but feel free to ask! Sorry if I also don't respond as often, as we have 3 weeks left until this semester is over and it's pretty hectic! Good luck!

Please let us know how the interview goes! I'm so nervous :p

I got an email from Regis College in Massachusetts for a last minute phone interview thing on Friday, so looks like I'll have two interviews within the span of a few days.

Hey!

Do you mind giving us an idea on your stats when you were applying (GPA, experience, all that kinda stuff?) Thank you!

I went to UCLA for my undergrad as a communications major and graduated in 2010, GPA was 3.7. After that I worked at a healthcare plan in so cal for about 2 years as an events coordinator. Around 2011 I started to volunteer at my local hospital in the ED and Medsurg floor for about 3 months. 2012, I moved over to Philly and started working a temp job that led me to become an ophthalmic technician (was hired as a receptionist, later trained as a technician), did that for about a year and a half. I decided to finally take all my science prereqs at CCP (took 2 semesters) and got a 4.0 (anat & phys I & II, general chemistry, intro to biochem, microbio, bio). Then I applied to , Jefferson, and Penn and got into all three and ended up with Penn! I applied as BSN only and did not apply for a master's program.

Disclaimer, this is just my impression, I think there's roughly half of the students who are BSN only and half that are MSN submatriculated. I also think that don't be discouraged or worried if you're not a science major because they actually like it if you have something different to offer. They realize that you're all second degree students who found a passion for nursing and so focus on your goals and what brought you here and try to see how your undergrad degree can help you, not hinder you, from becoming a great nurse!

Hi Cyaos!

I have a friend who is looking at accelerated NNP programs. Do you know if Penn allows you to direct entry BSN/MSN into the NNP program? I applied to ACCNP and revisited the BSN/MSN application, and the NNP program wasn't an option to apply to for direct entry.
