2018 UPenn BSN/MSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Greetings fellow 2018 UPenn BSN/MSN applicants! Just thought I could start a thread for the incoming applicants so we can help each other out through the application process.

Does anyone know if we need to submit separate transcripts for study abroad programs if it's already clearly stated on our official undergraduate transcript? Thanks! : )

I have my phone interview for the PMH-NP track tomorrow afternoon! I'm so nervous -- anyone have any tips about the interview this round? I'm really hoping that interviewing over the phone wont hurt my chances!

Hey, how'd the call go for you? Mine left me feeling....less than confident unfortunately :( it wasn't even an interview...and they called me 40 minutes late! *sigh

Hi. You aren't alone. I think all calls today were late. Also, ended the phone conversation with "if the university doesn't admit you to the BSN portion..."? If so, I had the same. I'm sure it was ok. Mine was more about my questions than the interviewer asking me. I hope that means they are interested in me and just want to help me be interested in them.

Thanks, this totally helps to hear. I did screw up though. I did soo much prep for questions they could ask--I forgot to think of ones to ask them!

I actually already followed up with my interviewer via email and asked a couple questions as well as addressing something. I hope that bodes well...

Anyway you mentioning the BSN-only admittance speech definitely helps calm my nerves, thank you! :)

May I know what the "if the University doesn't admit you to the BSN portion" means?

We talked about this in earlier posts. They are taking about the caveat mentioned by all the interviewers across the specialities that interviewed. Basically, our interviews were with the specialty faculty which is the graduate MSN portion of the program. I believe you are an international student so it might be different where you are from but what they are essentially saying is that they have no influence on who the undergraduate admission office admits to the BSN portion of the program and that the process is separate. If you don't get into the BSN portion of the program, even if the graduate faculty is interested in having you come to studying at Penn, then you are out of luck. Without being accepted into the undergraduate portion of the program, you will be rejected for the entire program and the graduate faculty have been telling us that they do not take part in this decision.

Oh yes I'm an international student. Thanks for the information, I believe the process is the same for me too. :)

During my interview phone call, I believe they said something along the lines of "everyone being interviewed is qualified". Also mentioned with something like "but we want to make sure Penn is the right place for them".

To me, this sounds potentially misleading. Can someone tell me their thoughts? Because I want to interpret it as "everyone being interviewed is qualified and therefore admitted", but I assume the situation is that "not all qualified students get admitted," which I find strange. Any light that could be shed on this would be great

That's cool, which country do you live in? :)

That sounds really misleading because I also honestly think not all who interviewed will be admitted.

I'm glad you agree. I wouldn't think even half get an offer, so they should be kinder with the words they choose (as in, not getting my hopes up :\ )

Yup I agreed, and it sounds like giving us unrealistic hope :p. Maybe by that they mean all who were invited for interview are qualified to be admitted, but the interview serves as a mean for them to filter the applicants.
