2018 UPenn BSN/MSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Greetings fellow 2018 UPenn BSN/MSN applicants! Just thought I could start a thread for the incoming applicants so we can help each other out through the application process.

Does anyone know if we need to submit separate transcripts for study abroad programs if it's already clearly stated on our official undergraduate transcript? Thanks! : )

Oh very cool!!

I'm glad you agree. I wouldn't think even half get an offer, so they should be kinder with the words they choose (as in, not getting my hopes up :\ )

May I know which specialty you apply to? I applied to primary care :)

Same!! She was 40 minutes late, and seemed very, very disinterested. She did say her kid was running around, and the school was closed, but it was a bizarre "interview." Seems like everyone got the same spiel, "if I'm talking to you, then you know you're qualified for the program" and that it was an opportunity to ask questions.

I asked her a few questions, but didn't feel like I made any connection with her. I asked if she had any questions for me, and we talked about self-care while in the program, which was the only time I felt like it was a personal call at all.

She ended saying she has no input for application, and then the whole "you may get in for the MSN but not the BSN, if so then just apply for the MSN later," which left me feeling pretty confused.

In all, I'm going to try to not let it get to me because I still really, really want to go to Penn. It makes me wonder how an in-person interview would have been different? I'm going in-person to the Yale interview, but I'm not sure what to expect!

Wow this really is my exact situation, and it's so comforting that someone had the same experience!

How can an interview start off with "so, do you have any questions for me?" and how is being 40 minutes late ok at all? I really wish I could give some feedback because that interview was a big deal for me. I tried to prep a lot, and after the call, I felt pretty down about everything.

Contrasted with my Vanderbilt interview where I totally connected with my interviewer, sincerely enjoyed the call, and hung up feeling GOOD.

Also, grats on the Yale interview!!

Hi! I'm in the same boat but I did apply and I was one of the older people there at the interview. I graduated undergrad 2010...however I'd like to think my tenure is to my advantage. I was a dancer in college my undergrad GPA wasn't great 3.2, but my prerequisite GPA was just shy of a 4.0, I did well in science which my interviewer wanted to know all about...she said it was crucial to know if you'd do well in science classes. I'm a doula, but work a full time job so I don't attend many births. My GRE verbal and analytical were in the 65th percentile and I'm omitting my math because it was really really bad. But I got an interview..and she didn't mention the GRE once!

Does anyone know how exactly we're going to be notified? And is it the 1st or 2nd week of February that they're saying we're going to find out by?

I think at the interview they said the first or second Monday of February, but they also email us in advance... which is terrifying but sure

Wait, what? So we could know like end of Jan and then get paperwork in early Feb? So nervous.

Not from what I understand. At the interview day they said they would send us an email in advance to let us know when they will post a decision for everyone (the exact date).

Ok this is good to note. Otherwise, the next time I get an email from Penn Admissions my heart rate is going to skyrocket thinking it's the admissions decision! lol

Hey to everyone that had the phone interview-- did the lady say she had no input on our admission decision? Or I guess she meant she doesn't for the BSN portion or the other way around (MSN portion)?

I just wanna know cuz that call did nottt go well and I entirely blame her...

My interviewer said that she would forward her notes about my application and interview to the admissions committee, so I'm guessing that means she does have an impact on their decision to admit me.

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether everyone who is being considered for admission will recieve an interview by January 31st? It was a little unclear in the email sent a few months ago. I applied for the FNP track and since they are not interviewing, are they instead interviewing for the ABSN portion?

This waiting is driving me crazy. They also only asked for the mid-term report and never for final pre-req grades. Does anyone know how we're supposed to submit those?

Thanks!
