Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Nursing Students Ohio University

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

Hey, is there a quick jump to this particular thread? I have to go to the search bar and type in Ohio Univ to get back here. It used to be under Students and then distant education or something like that. I must be forum illiterate! Thanks for guiding me.

OU has its own forum now. It's under "Colleges" in the main header. You can also click the "add to favorites" under the forum description at the top, then access your favorite forums by clicking the heart symbol near the top, next to your account settings. :-)

Thanks Lunah!!

WONDER OF WONDERS!!! Can it be? Some of my transfer credits are finally starting to show up in the MyOHIO?!?!

I could roll on the floor and giggle, I am so excited. Geez, it's nice to know it's at least being worked on (seven months after the fact).

I e-mailed CN for help and I could probably kiss her right now...LOL :kiss

Hi Boyfactory Did you already take Nutrition and OU didn't accept it.If so why was it not accepted.

It was not a specific nutrition class. It was nutrition with other stuff. So, I get to take a specific nutrition class.

Boyfactory…I'm taking nutrition now. Pretty interesting class. But man does it make you regret everything non-healthy you put in your mouth….

As I eat another chocolate covered macadamia nut...

Oh my goodness...I am in two classes and I am living and breathing this stuff 24 hours a day!

I am doing really well so far...but I don't know how to a B minus worth of work or what that would look like to different TA's So, I am going all out.

There is a learning curve in what is considered acceptable and what is great. So far I must be doing great

based on my results. However, I feel I am putting in an inordinate amount of time to do so! Yikes.

It is like a battle zone with books, binders, organizers, tabs, markers, plastic sheet holders.

My way to handle these classes and be organized is to print out everything and put it in a binder.

Also, I tab the book for the class and label each chapter so I can easily flip to it when I need information.

Almost done with two classes. Woo Hoo!

Luckily I scheduled to work very little this month so I could get a handle on this stuff.

Good luck to all newcomers...and oldtimers as well!

Mary…I think we all feel the same way. I'll be done in April, and I am seriously UNMOTIVATED. I think my brain is just fried. But all we can do is chug along…….

Fried brain...definitely no doubt about it! Part of me really enjoys this process...the other part says "not so much"

Next interval I am in one class...that will be a breath of fresh air. I wish you all the best Delta...you have light at the end of your tunnel!

Yes I have a light…And it can't come fast enough. Ready to get back to my normal life of spending time w/my family, travel, photography, cooking, and my latest addiction (Pinterest)….Been doing this for a year non-stop and I'm just mentally drained. Sigh……...
