U.S.A. Ohio

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

what color does the uniform has to be ? or does it matter?

All white. There is a specific style of Landau Scrubs. The exact numbers I don't know. The specifics are located in the Tri-C Nursing ADN Handbook.

From the time you start pre-reqs til the end of the program, how long is it? 3-4 years? Just wondering because I'm finally starting my pre-reqs for the program..

The program is only 4 semesters so it depends on how many prereqs you have and how fast you complete them. Go to their website for the complete prereq list and when you have all but A&P and Micro you can apply to the program. You can be in the program and complete A&P and Micro concurrently. I wouldn't recommend that, some prefer to get everything out of the way because the program is demanding.

Here is the Program Sequence website:

Welcome to Tri-C

take for instance, Math 1200 is required but if you dont have math, and say you start at the most basic math, this is all the math you have to take:

math 910, 950, 960, 1200 (this will take you 4 semesters alone)

if you are going to get your BSN, you should take Chem 1010 and Chem 1020. If you are only going for your RN, you can only take BIO 1100.

you also need English 1010 & 1020

Psych 1010 & Lifespan development 2020

Then take AP1, AP2 and Microbiology THENNN start the program. I would highly recommend you take ALL of your pre-reqs before starting the nursing classes. There is no way you can do both. They say you are permitted, but you are not going to have time to do your 1300 & 1450 nursing classes alone in one semester with the clinicals at the hospital, the 2 hours of lab practice you need outside of class, attendance to lecture for both classes AND the lab times for BOTH classes. It's a lot. Map out your plan of attack.

also you can take AP1 then Micro, then AP2, cuz micro starts off at AP1. I did that and glad I did because all the info from AP1 is still fresh when you learn about parts of the Euckaryote and Prokaryote cells!

I heard that some people take AP2 and Micro together. It's not for me, but may be for you.

One last thing, if you are just starting your college career, make sure to obtain high grades in all of your pre-reqs, because getting a C in Nursing is a godsend. C=continue. Your GPA will dwindle if you get only C's in Nursing.

The best of luck to you and let me know if you have any questions.

Ok, thanks :)

Hi Everyone, Has anyone received an email from Tri-C regarding orientation for Fall 2012 clinicals? I received a letter of acceptance for Fall 2012, Accelerated Program, mentioning information should be coming out in March of 2012, but have not seen anything as of yet. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything and am trying to work out something with my employer to keep my job while finishing school.

Thanks

Awww the new baby students. I'll be finishing my final semester when you folks are starting. The scheduling grids for current students went up a few days ago. Hooray!

Thanks, I got it! Good luck to your son.

Hi, I was accepted into tri-c metro campus in fall 2012. I keep hearing horror stories about how hard it is going to be. I am not worried about working hard or having no social life but I have a daughter who will be about 9 months and I am afraid I will miss out on her life . Is it really that bad? I would like to hear from some students who graduated or are currently in the program. Thanks

Do you have to work too? If you don't have to work you'll be fine. I have a part-time job and I'm managing just fine. If you do have to work, you will have a hard time managing work, school and baby.
