Nursing Shoes??

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

I start nursing school August 15th and clinicals 3 weeks after that in September!! What shoes do you recommend? The director said they need to be all white but if the logo was a color that was ok and she said preferably leather but not required. Recommendations please?!

I recommend buying nursing shoes from, Red Wings Shoe. They have the most COMFIEST and well made nursing shoes. Sometimes I just wanna sleep in mine lol. They are a bit pricey but totally worth it! Congratz on getting in! I wish you all the best in your future studies:)

So many health care profs wear and love danskos. Personally they killed my feet, and I have had 3 different pairs. I just cannot wear them. I posted on another thread about shoes... They are called Spira. They are kind of ugly, and only come in black and white. I wear black at work, but we have to wear white for clinicals come sept. I just bought a pair of Klogs Genoa online and waiting for them to arrive. I will post a review, hopefully they are comfy. I only paid like 35$ for them on sale (normally around 80-100). If they don't work, I will have to splurge and buy white Spira's (which are $160 from my shoestore, but you can get them online for around 130). They are pretty ugly looking, but are heaven. The best shoes for achy feet!

I only wear Crocs (the real Crocs not the cheap knockoffs). They are the most comfortable shoes I have found.

BUY NURSING SHOES!!! Not any ol' white tennis shoes. Every part of your body with thank you. I've have them all: SAS, NurseMates, Cherokee Rockers, Alegria, Skechers, Dansko's, Crocs, etc. LOVED the Rockers by Cherokee (not around as much now) and am currently wearing a pair of Alegria's that I really like. They were a little "heavy" at first, but now I really like them

I purchased a pair of timerland nursing shoes...they are by far the most comfortables pair I have personally owned... I have purchased nurse mates and by the end of clinicals my feet felt like bricks... Best advice try on several pair.

It takes awhile to break Danskos in so buy them early if you go that route. If not the New Balance model 9 something that comes in all white, black and brown is what a lot of postal workers wear.

Check out www.clogoutlet.com . I always buy their factory second Sanita's to save on the cash, but I honestly haven't had a problem. In my experience, their flaws are very minor and completely worth the $50-75 bucks you can save. (The site also carries non-factory seconds).

Have you seen the cute new Koi Sanita Clogs (in white)?? Koi by Sanita Professional Lindsey in White Patent Leather - Factory 2nd Cute! Plus, their website is currently offering 10% off everything. Very tempting to buy just one more pair... :)

I've had very good experiences with Sanita Clogs (they used to be the same company as Dansko), and I'm also loving my new Alegrias.

Danskos or Sanitas are totally worth it! If you know what size you are for each brand, buy a pair on ebay or at clog outlet. I have bought slightly used clogs to wear to work.

They're expensive, but last about 5 years.

And, don't drop a fortune on nursing school shoes... once you don't have to wear white shoes, you will never want to wear them again, trust me. You'll want some awesome pattern, or brown or black. And, in nursing school you don't usually do 12 hour shifts, only 8 hours.

And beware clogs with patent leather or prints painted on - the leather tends to crack and they don't last long. The "oiled leather" or durable finishes last years and look decent.

Congratulations!

New Balance walkers (I'm not sure which model I'll get next since they've made annoying changes to my favorite 844/845 models, but the fit is wonderful)

SAS freestyle. Great old-fashioned look, in my opinion, but even better, they are light, comfortable, and supportive.

Dansko's are great, get the patent leather so that they don't get ruined if you have to give showers, I think there is another fabric that doesn't ruin as easily as well. You just really want to be able to wipe them off, I have been peed on, bled on, pooped on, and thrown up on, I just clean em up with a sani wipe and move on, love em!

LOVE my Skechers for Work Tone-Ups clog; I have them in white and black. They are super-light and super-comfy; feet do not feel half as tired after a 12 hour shift as with other shoes. Good luck!
