Nursing Shoes??

Nurses Uniform/Gear

I start nursing school August 15th and clinicals 3 weeks after that in September!! What shoes do you recommend? The director said they need to be all white but if the logo was a color that was ok and she said preferably leather but not required. Recommendations please?!

I got Sketchers D'Lites on the recommendation of a current nursing student with 12 hour shifts. They are very reasonably priced and seem comfy, we'll see when I start my clinicals in October! Good luck to you!

Sketchers D'Lites are awesome. Even after an 11 hr day at clinicals, I go home and my feet don't hurt. You will love them!

30 years ago I spent $40 on my first pair of leather NurseMates. I wore them and wore them. When they were no longer fit to wear, I went to KMart and bought $8 washable leather sneakers...they were just as good. Try on bunches of pairs till you find the one that works best for you.

If you do the Dansko deal, make sure you bring extra shoes to change into.....they will need a long break in period. They gave me plantar fascitis so I had to give them up. I love Asic...no break in, no heel problems.

I have been researching these shoes and my mom has talked to several waitresses who swear by them. Do any of you know about them or have you tried them personally?

I start Sept 18th and have the same requirements as you. I'm curious as well, I have no idea what to pick, and there are so many opinions. lol

I think I may go to a uniform store and just start trying pairs on. Good luck!!

That's a lot to think about! Thanks y'all! I wore Nike shocks as a vet tech but after working 14-24's my feet and back would be killing me so I decided to try something new!

MeganDM- one of the vets I worked with and swore by them. For me, that would take some getting used to!!

I was thinking the same thing! But I'm glad I asked bc like one person said above the Danskos damaged her feet which is good to know. I've had a few RN friends who've said the medical professional white Crocs are great, but I've never been a big fan of Crocs.

Good luck in your search!

I have a pair, but I can't imagine wearing them for a long period of time. I think I'd do better with more stability (I can be super clumsy!).

I've tried quite a few, as I'm flat footed and 12 hrs can be really long if you don't have good support. Dansko's are the best. However, they do take some getting used. When I first purchased them, the sales girl warned me they might be uncomfortable while the shoe takes time to mold to your feet, but don't give up. After about a month, I noticed a difference. They are also very durable, I just bought a new pair after wearing out the old ones I'd had for five years, so they are worth the investment. Congrats on getting into nursing school and good luck!
