Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Yeah, here's my slap-forehead moment:

Introduction to Research ---> Capstone: Professional Research Project.

These two go hand in hand, yet the Capstone is research at the professional level and actually developing a project.

DUH, why I didn't put that together sooner is scary. Yep, would've paid more attention... :roflmao:

Yeah, that's when I put them together too. I don't think one knows how important research is until the capstone. A little too late obviously, lol.

Hi all

i am nervous about starting GCU April 20th for RN-BSN online.... The online part is concerning, I am trying to overcome the thought of not turning a page.

I actually did have the stats book in hard copy and I'm glad I did. The others were some getting used to but after awhile I became used to them.

Hi. I did not rentals were available from B&N, that is an awesome idea. I know a great many people work full time and attended college full time, just nervous. I will hand my "hand raised" frequently.

Just make sure to give them time to respond back to you. I never had a problem asking questions. I'm sure I drove those instructors nuts.

I'm making up for instructor questions this time around. She just keeps saying, no problem! She's going to make me cry and I'm not a crier! I've asked more questions in this class than I have in all my previous classes combined! She rocks!!!

Winter I am LOL with your post! It's so true though! While I am freaking out about assignments I ask a private question and she's like don't worry we can fix anything. I LOVE this Lady!

I'm just hoping she still feels the same after I had in my Review of the Literature. I have about another hour left on it and I am done. But it is huge! I mean huge! The girl in class saying her's had over 2000 words and she still had 10 more to do has nothing on me (I mean nothing!) Freaking out!!!!

Since we are discussing instructors that rock, I have to tell you that the "unknown" instructor I have for research is incredible. She is everything I think that an instructor should be. She responds to almost half of the discussion posts with actual responses that are not just cut and paste generic responses. She has had an ongoing conversation in the individual forum about picking research studies for this class and my capstone. And all discussions are meaningful and responsive (and long... not short or one word answers).

I can't wait to see how she grades and what feedback I will get. I think I have a keeper here!! AND, she teaches every nursing class except for stats......

No kidding, squeeze very ounce of any knowledge outta that person that they're willing to share, take notes, save, bronze and frame them for your Capstone `cause it's kind the same thing, except, oh, I dunno, times 10 BILLION. :wacky:

Ummmm Rob I would like to know the name of your Awesome instructor too as I still have another class to take after Capstone.
