Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Nursing Students School Programs Nursing Q/A

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Hello all; I've been reading this thread and wondered if someone could give me clarification on GCU capstone course? I'm in spirituality now and have 4 classes left. I was under impression capstone course consisted of just writing a very long paper..is it actually formatted the same as all the others, with DQ's, CLC's, papers due every week, etc?

DQ: Yes, 2 each week, blah blah

CLC: NO, Praise the Lawd!

It is set up the same as the other classes, except only having one paper due, you will have 1-3 things due each week on average. You have to produce what your proposal says you are going to do. Say for instance, you want to propose a change in protocol in real life. You would need to submit a ppt or executive summary for the managers and then maybe pamphlets or other materials to everyone else. YOU NEED TO PRODUCE THESE ITEMS IN HARDCOPY. Therefore, this week, I have to produce my paper 1500-2000 word paper, my ppt, executive summary, questionnaire and my bulletin announcing my program.

Some of the papers are small, 500-800 words, but each week there is the larger paper.

Once you do allllll the papers, you put them into one BIG paper. Sort of a cut and paste, if you will, however, I'm running into a slight problem. All these papers sort of overlap in some areas and will have repeated information. I will have to go through and edit some parts so there isn't any redundancy. Sooo, instead of being here, I should be back in Word-Land, but I needed a break:bluecry1:

LOL, love that avatar!!

I think we are all tired of Word-land. I think I can say it isn't the happiest place on earth like another place is, lol.

Watch your email in the next few classes about getting a pin and applying for graduation, because one day it will be you!!

I never got the email about getting a pin. I already applied for graduation.

sorry, a pin does not excite me,lol Just looking fwd to turning in my Pico statement tomorrow and then taking a few months off! Down to my last 16 days in Nicaragua. Looking forward to chilling in Rhode Island for a few months, then head to Quito Ecuador. Not sure when I will start up again, Maybe August. I have 2 classes I can test out of, so will do it over the summer. GL on the Capstone.

Does that mean you're done with the CLC due tomorrow too? You're not editing/proofing, or did someone else finally "take the wheel" and you have a weekend off?! :singing:

I'll reply when it is marked, lol

To each his own. It may offer an incentive to others when they hit that proverbial wall.

What is the PICO?

Thanks for the information, Tokmom. That sounds like a lot of tedious work. Knowing it is the last one will definitely make it easier though! Counting days til October and done. Good luck!
