UoP is expensive, but believe it or not, they are running occasional specials. I signed on in August and got a free class tuition when I take 3 classes. So my tuition reimbrsement takes care of 2 classes, they give me one for free and I pay for one. That's 12 credits for $1100. Not too bad. Call and do your homework. Good luck!

Hey Texas girl.....check out Dundee University, It is the only Bristish University that the NLNAC approves and accredits..It wasnt too expensive. I will look for my packet, but it is like $7800 total, No clinicals...

I never thought of that. I have been seriously looking at Florida Hospital RN to BSN program. I was in contact with Kaplan yesterday and she informed me that there was no such thing as a RN to BSN program with no clinicals. Then when I ask if they were NLN approved she said "Who's the NLN". I had the answer before her. I gonna keep on keepin on, until I find the right one. Anyone been to Penn State?

I am an LPN who is getting my BSN without an RN first. Most want LPNs to be RNs then go to BSN. I have just started my program with The College Network. It is costing me 5,775.00 for 16 4 credit hour classes. I do have to pay for my tests BUT they garantee I will pass them or if I fail the test twice they will pay for me to be tutored and pay for the tests until I pass them. They also have me enroll in Indiana State University. This is a one of a kind program. It is NLN accredited and a reasonable price. I am so excited right now just waiting for my guides and books to get here so that I can begin. I have to complete 450 skill hours between now and when I graduate. I will not have a clinicals "test" thank goodness and will just have to sit for the RNClex. If you want more or need more information please feel free to email me. I looked at Regeant's and a few others and this one is the only one that allows me to do both at the same time in a distance learning capacity. Good luck.

I have Known about this since it first began. I have even had my appt with the college network and all. The only thing I dont like about this is, when I expressed my concern about finding a preceptor everyone kinda went "well oh uhh I dont uhh". I am not in a position right now to complete clinicals , but 450 hours really is not alot if you break it down. I also have 11 classes to clep out of which was kinda a turn off. I do know however I will complete these at any BSN level. My husband is a Junior in University of Texas at Arlington's Engineering Program and is gone 8a to 9p M-F and I have 3 toddlers and 2 teens. Signing with the college network scares the hell out of me. I have heard so many negative things and payments every month YIKES!!!! I do like the fact that ISU is a well known nursing school and is accrediated . I received a email from the Director just yesterday on their accrediation. This program is still something I am considering, but right now Excelsior is the better deal . I have untill December to make my mind up. Keep me posted on how you do because I may end up following you. I know that when you get to phase 3 you can get title 4 funds which is a big + . I need help paying for day care.

Why do you feel Excelsior is the better deal? That is through RUE right? And are they going to let you have your 2 year RN or your BSN? I spoke with them about preceptors. I have talked to nurses that I know that say they are fine with precepting. They just have to sign that I was there and that I did the skill. So that should not be to hard to find out about. But i would like to know what Excelsior is offering that makes you feel they are better. Also i have as long as i need to do these classes. It is distance learning and I will do them at my own pace. Which is very much what i need. Thanks for sharing.

I just spoke to the College Network today and I am going to go with their program after checking out several others. I feel this is the best route for me to go. I have a phone number if you would like it. Just email me.

I am going directly through Excelsior college . Rue ,college network and chancellors those are all publishing companies. If you speak with the college directly they will tell you they dont recommend thoses companies. I print out the study guides buy Ebay books (later edition books to save money) or use my own very large library. The college network wants to charge me 4,000 for just the study guides nothing else. On top of that I would have to pay the

875 enrollment fee

1500 CPNE fee

and 400 and something graduation fee.

plus 205 for each nursing exam ( and there are 7)

that equals 8,210 when I could do it without the publishing company for around 4,200 plus some book fees here and there.

Now you dont have a choice, ISU requires you to go through college network. And phase two alone will cost 2400. I have 8 test to complete to go before I can get my ADN with excelsior. Providing I pass the CPNE of course. I am done with 90% of my BSN requirments and have every intention of transfering to Florida Hospital RN- BSN program right after graduation . I would rather have a RN/ADN and be working on my BSN , then to be in LVN to BSN program. And that is only because I have a time critical situation here. I by no means have anything against going to a LVN to BSN program. But truthfully many people are done with Excelsior in a matter of months .I want to be taking my CPNE in the summer of 05 , that is the goal. I work on my degree on my own time too, I have one core class left and 7 nursing exams left. There are three days's of clinicals with Excelsior and no clinicals with Florida Hospital.... Lord have mercy this is long!! :)

I am confused so I appologize if I missed something but if you are going through college network are you actually a student with Excelsior or Indiana State? And why won't you have a clinicals test, I thought you had to take the CPNE or is that only if you are with Excelsior? Just curious, not making any judgements. :)

She is saying she wont have the "clinical test" that is required by Excelsior but instead that she will have 450 skill hours at ISU. Im not sure what she means by skill hours , I personally consider that different than clinical hours. And I know ISU requires 450 clinical hours with a preceptor. Which is not a bad deal... :)

txpadequeen is right. i am saying that i will not have to take the cpne. i will not have to take that clinical exam that excelsior and other places make you do. i do however have to have 450 clinical hours with a preceptor. the preceptor is not paid unless i pay them. i have many many rn friends that will gladly help me with the hours. they are volunteering their time but i will repay them somehow. i just like i won't have to take that god awful clincial exam at the end. i have heard many people say that one mistake and they fail and have to pay another 2grand to take it again. anyway good luck angela. please email me when you get your guides perhaps we can do some study together.
