Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Half way through the week 3 assignment and my articles are beginning to blur together. I need some sleep.

They started blurring during lit reviews. I have wasted more time in trying to find a specific article as I know I read that information in ONE of my articles, somewhere!

Do NOT get me started on plagiarism! Last week in the DQ's had a student literally take my answer and use it. She took out 2 sentences and added an additional paragraph. I notified the instructor who did take it seriously. I understand her point in that having so many students answering the same question answers will be alike, but there is specific wording that I used that I know this student would not have come up with on her own from reading her previous answers and responses. This week she literally cut/paste from an article for the first 2 sentences of her DQ answer with no citation or quotes. Told Mr I just have to stop reading her stuff as it just torks me off.

Can't wait for week 3 to end..... onward......

What did they do to her if they took it seriously?

Rob, I hope you got some sleep!

They punished the student and are making her take an extra GCU course that has weekly CLC projects due!! LOL

The prof did state it is difficult when 20 some odd students are all answering the same question, but she would watch her answers and responses. I hope she does since this week she literally cut/paste from an articles with NO citation, much less the citation that was within the sentences she blatantly plagiarized.

I'm kind of over it at this point - to much on my plate deal with it. Not only do I have capstone that I am working hard to complete, but am working on an application for a Masters program and getting ready to move from Australia back to the US the week after class ends. No idea where Mr's next assignment is, but looking like it is in Europe and we will be heading there before our stuff gets back to the US, so packing a separate box or two for the movers so I know what I want to ship over there eventually.

Karma will work for the person who plagiarizes.....

I hope.

Just finished with the Implementation Plan for week 3. Figured it would be 15 pages but in reality it ended about 15 pages and about 2400 words not including the Appendices. I have worked on this assignment longer than I have spent at my day job this week. This is not healthy, I need to cut my need for perfection wayyyyyy back...

Looking at starting week 4 tonight with the discussion posts but maybe I will just relax. Then I will be behind next week....

Mine was just under 2000 words. Struggled some days, but when the mo-jo hit I was off and running. Took Sunday off for me and went to do something fun. Had a great time seeing the pinnacles again. Monday morning here.... back to the grind stone and working on DQ's then the assignment.

Mr reassures me the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train. I told him I hope it is the lights in Houston, Texas waiting for us to get home. LOL

Your entire paper is only 2000 words so far?

How long is the whole paper supposed to be. the end one? And if you re not using previous work done in that class, how is it even possible?

I think the rule about using previous work for the final paper is instructor specific. I am lucky I guess to have this instructor. Honestly there is no way she will remember each of my papers so I plan on cutting, pasting, with little paraphrasing. As long as my TII score is below 25% then I will not be concerned. I find that the grading is fairly easy.

I am estimating that my final project will be around 45-50 pages including all needed information (title page, abstract, body of the paper, conclusion, literature review, references, and appendices). Sounds like a lot and it truly is but it is also completed over the five week period. First 3 weeks are a bear and busy but this week has been fairly tame. Next week (this weekend) I will just put everything together. Hope to be done Wednesday next week.

I had a question for anyone who has completed the capstone. Did you include feedback from the organizational leader you shared your project to inside your project? There was a question about this in the forum and the facilitator of course said "it should happen".
