Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

Good night.

Good night to everyone. Be safe out there!

I apologize for being so confusing. To clarify, in a nutshell: None of you nor any of my co workers ran into the problems I had. Again, which is why I very early on called and asked for another counselor. I was told NO, I could not change. I plowed forward anyway, hoping for the best, only to again and again, run into errors being made, paperwork lost, etc....I decided to tell them in the end I would not attend.

Given that, I am now told I can change counselors, if I wish. I question if I should again move forward or call it a day.

I know that given no one has had any issues, this all may sound unbelievable or that I am nuts. I have spent hours working with them on this. Which is why some of my posts are not clear, I have had total frustration. I thank you for listening and will work through this decision I am sure.

Head spinning is a photo of me, the past two months! lol!

I can understand your frustration pinkpetunia, just take a deep breath... I do not dispute that you may have gotten a bummer of a counselor but maybe you need to take back control of the situation.

Getting confirmation on the transfer of paperwork would be necessary. Making a few phone calls will be in order from now on. Just like at work sometimes you need to control the flow of information. (It frustrates me that I have to call lab to draw a stat CBC even though I put the order in electronically.) this is kind of what you need to do in everything that is completed online or from a distance.

Also, I don't think this has to do with your age. Can't talk for others but this is my 2nd (really like 3rd) career. No spring chicken here. Take the weekend and think things over. Maybe push back your start until you are comfortable and ready.

And yes, I was working with counselor's supervisor and the supervisor's supervisor--directly-- the entire time.

They were apologetic, but things kept happening.

Finally, finished with Stats!!! So glad it is done. Now, Intro Nursing Research.. I do totally understand what you said. my first week assignment is just to copy and paste of Abstracts. it is really depending on Professors...

Yes, I remember the TIA I had when I submitted my first workbook exercise in stats to TII. I just looked at my scores: wk1 45%, wk2 19%, wk3 23%, wk4 38%, wk5 37%. He never said a word...

The one that you may be remembering that made my head explode was the Literature Search in Research class - that one made me mad. One of those instances where different instructors interpret the assignment differently. Some classes literally copied/pasted the 3 research articles' abstracts into the paper, but mine? Nooooo. We had to find 3 articles and REWRITE the abstracts, and then run it through TII! C'mon! An abstract is short, concise, and only includes the main points of the article - how can you even rewrite that without it being >20% TII? I can't re-word the actual statistics, outcome, recommendations, etc., that was doomed to fail. I worked on that paper for two days, finally tweaked it down to 19%, and all I learned was how to manipulate words and switch around sentences to lower the dang score - I learned nothing about literature search

From what I have heard in any completion program, stats is the worst! Good for you Sweet!

You need to quit being so hung up on this age thing!

Omg..I would say the vast majority were over forties and into sixties when I was in the program. I'm not exactly a teen myself.
