Grand Canyon RN-BSN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Is there any updated information? I have been in heavy contact with them and am looking at taking their RN-BSN program. I work with a GCU grad and she has nothing but positive things to say, but I want more opinions. ?

Any pro's and cons? Thankfully the only class I'm missing is stats and that is offered in the actual BSN program. I'm a bit nervous as my algebra skills are way old. If anyone took this class, do you have any advice?

I am open to any thoughts or experiences.. if I go ahead Monday is my start date.

My experience getting started was way different than yours. Everything was organized and spelled out from the beginning. I'm currently about halfway through the program and if I had to make a decision on where to go again I would again choose GCU. Granted, I have had a couple of iffy instructors but based on those I work with who are going through other programs it's typical for that to happen. My least favorite part are the group projects but apparently those are typical as well. One big plus with GCU is this forum. It is a resource I'm fortunate to have found. Good luck on your decision.

Have any of you been told not to communicate with me?

Uh.....no... Like kwmom said, this isn't the experience that many of us have had. At times I haven't liked the response time or the information I have been given by my enrollment counselor, but I have just shrugged it off as he is busy. I assumed that I wasn't the only student he was counseling.

I have sent an email to my counselor yesterday requesting that I be moved from a class scheduled to start in March because the instructor isn't recommended. Haven't heard from him yet... Holding out faith that I will hear from him next week.

Glad to hear.. was getting paranoid!! How open are they to accept your request for a different instructor.. I have battled for 3 months in order to get a different enrollment counselor. Not kidding. It was not lack of attentiveness, it was major errors in the process.

and I was not allowed to change, given the incompetence...for months.. I hung in there knowing you all had great experiences.. but mine was not at all like any of you described

I typically have better luck when I call versus sending an email. I wanted to double up classes this last week I'm in research and when I called it was done in about 2 minutes. Really simple. Unfortunately the Ethics instructor I wanted wasn't available for the start date I wanted so I'm taking my chances. Fingers crossed!

No forms/transcripts were found for weeks upon weeks.. I was told she had to " walk from person to person to obtain what she needed".. as if I was a burden.. beyond that.. any changes in the orientation or classes were never done correctly. I would sign on to my syllabus.. I would be late for things I hadn't signed up for.

Guess I will change counselors and call..

i switched for Research and there were no issues at all. Again it was about a 2 minute phone conversation.

Do they really let you select a professor? If I can't change admission ppl, I highly doubt I can select a professor.

I am sorry to report, given major probs.. I was not "allowed" to change admission counselors.

Maybe I should just sit home and knit on my days off. ?? I so wanted this was so hopeful.. but I can see none of you have experienced what I have.. seriously I am exhausted. Will have to think it thru..it has been for too long.. and too ridiculous..

I really like my adviser, but I was impatient when I called him the other day and pressed the option to speak with another adviser for immediate assistance. Turned out the other adviser was more helpful than my regular adviser usually is when I ask to switch classes. You may think about speaking with another one if you get impatient as well :)

I was told repeatedly, I had to have this same advisor.. and it has been months of mistakes and problems. I am not kidding.

I don't know how you all have the flexibilty you have?
