Any ADN-BSN programs without ridiculous papers?

Taking my 1st ADN-BSN class. Thinking of dropping it with only 1 week left.

1st class and already a 6 to 8 page paper. A concept analysis of 1 of the following 4 words: Caring, Hope, Trust, or Fear.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I have absolutely no idea what to say.

The structure of these programs MUST change.

I don't want to write papers every 5 weeks. I want to read a book and take a test.

I didn't post a list of ADN-BSN programs without ridiculous papers. I'm afraid I have no idea what you are referring to in regard to my posts on this thread.

Then maybe someone who does can explain it. I don't want to extend this back and forth any further.

If it ever comes to pass that a mandatory BSN is required to take the NCLEX the people who feel so strongly in favor of it might need to move off of esoteric discussions and onto activism. Despite what I think about it if people really feel all that strongly they should involve themselves in the effort the way one might with any political campaign. Going round and round with people discussing individual opinions/reactions to their own program is unlikely to sway many people, and just as market forces have made it possible for employers to state preferences, without laws in place I'm not sure they will remain committed should the massive shortage predicted by some people actually materialize.

I was curious to see why the law in North Dakota was repealed. One of the articles stated it was due to lobbying by the very same people who now say "BSN preferred", lack of unity in the nursing field and a "top down" approach to implementation.

I'm not sure if you were responding directly to the experience that I shared, but I was not addressing what should be required for entry level for practice. I was sharing why *I* chose BSN, the merits I have enjoyed in my program, and why I feel that BSN is worth it *for me*. It has all that what I wanted from my nursing program. I also very clearly said that this is an experiential testament because I felt the person I was addressing appreciates personal experience, because that is what they have shared here in this thread multiple times.

My choice to go into a BSN program, and my satisfaction with that decision after the fact, is separate from my opinion about required education for entry level of practice. I believe that is a different topic completely, and I've said many times in other threads on AN that I believe that ADN is a worthy and valuable option. I am a believer in actively and continually advancing education throughout life, but that doesn't mean an ADN isn't fully capable of performing the duties required of an RN.

No, I was not responding to anyone directly. It was just a general comment. I'm not sure why people would take it personally or be upset by it, especially when there are lots of tangents included in this thread so far that nobody objected to.

Okay, just checking :) Sometimes I get the feeling that some people look at this as all or nothing. If a person sings the praises of one side, then they must view the opposite as wrong, somehow. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't giving the impression that my love for my program doesn't mean I don't find merit in ADN.

No worries! I'm just thankful you were open to my responses without taking them as an attack somehow. I always tell myself I'll walk away from threads like this one, but then I let myself get sucked back in...... Ack!!!

Don't know if I missed something in this thread, but I was expecting a list of schools, particularly online RN to BSN programs that do not require a ridiculous amount of papers to be written, are there any out there, that anyone is attending? Are there any online RN to BSN schools which still administer tests? Hopefully this is not too far off topic.

*** I have looked into dozens and didn't find any that wern't almost entirely paper writing based. It's the nursing education way.

*** one can very easily obtain a MSN without ever having taken even one semester of english comp.

However when writing for school I just find resourses that allow me to get it right then have the paper edited by a person who knows what they are doing.

From what I know, dyslexia does not prevent one from using a dictionary.
