PSA Healthcare interview...advice???

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi i am a new RN and have my very first interview. I am from Pennsylvania and was reffered to the PSA Healthcare through a family friend. At first the PSA did not want me because I have no experience but they are going to be starting a new program for new grads. Does anyone have info on this new program?? has anyone ever interviewed for PSA? What was it like? Also if you work or have ever worked for them do you like it? Do they pay decent (advice from PA people especially) Thanks everyone for any info you can give me!! I need experience and I love pediatrics so I hope this goes well. Even if i get a hospital job eventually I would still like to work PSA per diem. Thanks eveyone

I was asked pretty basic questions such as why I chose nursing, why home health, what are my skills or what I have done so far. I was also given 2 different exams. Again pretty basic questions. I was even allowed to look at some books they gave me to answer those questions. In a nutshell, it was a very laid back type of interview. Was offered the job towards the end of the process.

So far I love it. I guess it all depends on what kind of people are in the office, but for me the experience has been very good. They have very flexible schedule, lots of CEs, good orientation compared to other home care agencies as well!

All the best!

My advice would be to run as far and as fast away from them as you can. I'd wait tables before I'd work for them again. I was management and I left on very good terms.

I work for them in ct a few shiftsa month and love it...depends on the case u get...some families are harder then others....study ur peds vitals and calculations..u take a test at the interview

I had the same negative experience. Managemen was goofy. I had trouble getting anyone to return my calls. We had a few instances when pay checks were late. I stayed about 4 months. Hope you don't run into the same issues.

I actually interviewed with PSA this morning at the Harrisburg office. The interview was basically the recruiter telling me about the company and about specific cases in my area. I too am a new grad, graduated in July and passed boards last month. When I was there they did not mention anything about a program for new grads. They just said they would start me out with some basic cases (peg tubes and such). I filled out the background check, gave them a copy of my license, filled out two nursing instructor references, and took a 20 question test about basic care and skills. It wasn't bad at all. They said the pay is usually around $22/hr. I was told I would receive a call once the checks came back and then they would have me up for a second interview and set up orientation. Hope this helps!!! Good luck!

i work at the corporate office of psa healthcare.when someone tells you about their experience working with psa, be sure to ask when they worked for psa. admittedly, the company wasn't as amazing just a year and a half ago. however, we have recently changed our leadership, both in multiple locations and at a corporate level. we have worked incredibly hard to focus on quality of care and we can't do that without our wonderful nurses.

I may be interviewing with this company soon. I haven't decided but If I do, what type of test is it? is it a basic peds test re vitals, peds match calc or is it based on specific peds illnesses /diseases etc. I would really like to be prepared by brushing up on certain areas so that I can be prepared.

I did get a call but based on this thread, I'm not sure if I will follow through or move on. I would love the chance to gain more experience so the pay isn't an issue for me.

I realize this is an old thread, but asopko if you are still around and working for corporate I would really like to connect with you.
