Unemployed NURSE

I've been trained here in the school where i'm working, plus the fact that I am also a school nurse, and a "normal" teacher. I'm just a bit worried if I can use this as a good credential when I applied as a college instructor. ^_^

I think it's good credential, it's still teaching experience. What do you mean "normal" teacher? :)

graduated last april 2007 and went here in u.s june 2007.I passed the NCLEX Sept 2008.

current status:UNEMPLOYED.hehe

PRC also lost my board certificate, but they quickly made a replacement, because I told them that's all I need for my visa application for the middle east...

I also graduated last March 2007 and took the June NLE, worked in a bank for month then in a call center for 8 months now, but the company where I am working now is retrenching so I'm planning to pursue my nursing career again. I didn't took my NCLEX even though I was already eligible because even though you have passed it, you never had a chance to go there either so I didn't pursue it yet and just saved the money. I'm planning to get my PNA renewed for requirement reasons and renew by BLS training in Red Cross because it was already expired. I guess I'm going back to step number 1. Just being positive... even though luck and opportunity is opposing... =)

Hi there, the feeling is mutual, I'm a nurse since 2007. However, it's been 2 years and I still have no work. I am here in the province and hospitals are few. I wanted to try my luck there in Manila but due to financial constraints, I guess I'm stuck here. I just had surgery last October 2008 and now I am considering other options like looking for a job that has less work load... :cry:

What are their requirements? Is their training free? I am willing to grab a training without fees.

CA is only granting a one year extension at a time, have not seen one person get extended for a two year period.
Next, if you do not have an employer and already in the processing for immigration, you are looking at more than a seven year wait for a chance at a green card. Suggest that you take the initiative and do something with the NCLEX results; there is no reason at all that CA is going to keep a file open for that long. It just makes no sense even in terms of manpower hours. If anything, expect them to cut the time down from the three years. That would actually make more sense if you are looking at it from the other side.

I think the next best question here is that... Why is CA (or the entire United Stated for that matter), still allowing foreign NCLEX exams to continue? Knowing that there is a high chance that an applicant's file is surely destroyed (with the retrogression and all)...

It'll probably be BEST if the United States STOPS the NCLEX exams for foreign nurses.. This is obviously beneficial for those 'hoping' to work in the U.S., right? It ends false hopes, time and money...

Not all states destroy file if no SSN is provided. I think California is the only one to do so and they are at the moment extending due to retrogression as long as the applicant contacts the BRN in a timely manner. We are however seeing more states require proof of citizenship or residency before issuing a license which is fine as long as they don't delete file and destroy NCLEX results which is what Ca does

Not sure if it would benefit stats from accepting foreign nurse applicants as things may change or move forward and then the BON/BRN will be inundated with foreign applicants. For a lot it is a case of getting into the queue and they can only do that by meeting state requirements, pass NCLEX and find a employer. Most employers will want to see a pass in NCLEX before accepting them.

As long as the person is aware of delays, retrogression and uses the time they are waiting appropriately then I see no reason in joining the queue. They are foolish if they do not keep themselves up to date on what is happening, be aware of retrogression and look to improving or gaining nursing experience whilst waiting.

As long as the Board is making money I don't think they will tell the foreign graudates to stop taking the NCLEX. As long as they're getting their money, I don't think they really care. It's sad that people are wasting their hard earned money on something that most likely wont even happen. Good Luck
