I am a nurse Since 2007 here in the Philippines,.unfortunately unemployed. I am now applying in other country that might serve as a stepping stone for my nursing career,. I am now ready to set aside my nursing degree for the meantime,.but never giving up for my GOAL.

Most Nurse in the Philippines are UNEMPLOYED!

Kindly share what are the things that you do from the past months,. or years.,

Specializes in Emergency Nursing <3 and Ward Nursing.

Hello batchmate! hehehe...

I'm from Davao City, and same goes to a lot of my batchmates here. Many are unemplyed. Our fates lie in trainings, seminars and more TRAININGS! most of the hospitals here require you to train before they accept you as a staff, thast is IF there's a job vacancy in any area.

So far, after graduating and taking the NLE last December 2007. I became a tambay until the results came out on February 2008. I didn't really become active in applying in hospitals, not realizing how serious it is not to at that time. I was simply attending seminars until April when I trained as an IV therapist. I still didn't pass my resume to any hospitals aside from one public hospital which offered a training in the area of your choice. Of course, you had to pay for that experience. I chose the Emergency Room. Luckily, i passed their exam and was able to train there for 5 months. During the course of my training, i still didn't pass a single resume to any hospital, thinking that my credentials were not that satisfactory yet since I was a fresh RN. I had to finish the 5 months for me to feel confident that I AM qualified to be a of their staff. Big mistake for me!

I should've al least passed my resumes in some hospitals during those times because some of my batchmates already passed their even with no experiences at all. And now, a couple has been accepted in a hospital that has newly opened. it kinda sucks. But I guess that wasn't meant to be.

Anyway, after graduating in my 5 month training in the ER, I submitted my resume to some hospitals here in DC. Sadly, no respond. So I again trained in another hospital for a month last feb-march. Now, I am waiting for updates. I'm following up if there are any vacancies in any of the ward or area in that hospital. Hopefully, there will be. Starting up as a reliever, then a proby then a regular. that would be so cool! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and prayng to God that I will be accepted. ^__^

good day fellow rns!

:flwrhrts:

i am a june 2007 nle passer. while i was anxiously anticipating for the licensure results, i hastily considered one of the mainstream options for the jobless and the newbies. call center. fast forward to almost 2 years, i'm still handling american calls.

:argue:

it was when i started browsing this forum that i took (nursing-related) job hunting seriously. and man, did i realize it was tough in capital letters and tough in the truest sense of the word! armed with my brown envelope containing my resume and requirements, we braved 3 hospitals. and all of them did not even bother to look at my thrice revised resume! i even printed it in a fancy, scented specialty paper. haha.

:wtosts:

anyway, during the course of my almost 2 year tenure here, i took up my masters and recently on my 3rd semester. the company i'm working for, pays for my masteral tuition fees. so for now, that's the sole link i have in the nursing world.

i'm just trying to maintain a positive outlook. i'm structuring my time to enhance my ksa (knowledge-skills-attitude) combo because nursing is a long-term/life-time career goal. instead of feeling victimized because 3 hospitals just made a passing look at my brown envelope, i'd rather increase my chances of succeeding, by attending more seminars and mastering this field.

let's work at this guys, we're a large crowd and instead of competiting, let's merge and help each other.

Im garduate of batch 2006, and have my license dec 2006, Im now working here in Riyadh Military Hospital as patient care assistant, I went here without any hospital experience, because I think it much better than being a volunteer and not paid at all, so I suggesting if you want to earn money to help your family better to work first in any hospital here in saudi, and it will be better if you can have your luck to work in government hospital in which benefits are good compare to private....

Maminidady,

Hi, how did you went there? where did you apply? its hard to apply for a male nurse like me in Middlle east...

Specializes in SICU, Burn Unit, PACU, CCU.

Batch 2006 here.. I was once on the same situation as most nurses nowadays which is "unemployed." I passed my resume to several hospitals in Manila. I used the usual way of applying, which is using my feet and shear hardwork in order to land a decent nursing job. I even passed my resumes to several nursing schools to apply as a clinical instructor or teacher. Several weeks and months have passed but getting hired seems to be impossible during that time. I ended up accepting a job as an Korean English Instructor just to make ends meet. A hospital near our residence called me to undergo the hiring process, since my "dream hospitals" hasn't called me yet, I opt to undergo training in the said hospital. To cut the story short, I was hired by my dream hospital because I waited and invested my tireless effort to follow-up my application with them.. It wasn't easy.. so I hope that most of you do the same..

Hello,I'm also unemployed right now,it really frustrates me that after studying nursing for 4 years and spending a lot on tuition, books and affiliation, i dont still have a job.I'm done with the US exams, but due to retrogression,i'm looking for another country.Finished basic trainings like IV training,BLS,etc.I volunteered for 6 months.

Middle East,i guess is good because some hospitals don't require experience.I think being volunteer for a while is okay than zero, but 1 year is too much :bowingpur.

cheeesypopcorn, the working condition here for me is good enough to be expose on the hospital setting and be familiar with some procedures being done in the ward where I am working and the salary is good compare to our country that you will be the one to pay, in order for us to have hospital experience and most of my co-worker here that have plans to be a caregiver in Canada, or go some other places, they can go, because its much more easy to apply to other country if your not in the philippines

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

These days there is no need to look at countries as care givers, look to go as a RN even if it means doing courses or being assessed. You spent time in nursing school so be proud and use it

nice to know maminidady, as for us here, a lot of us dying for hospital experience. about you're co-workers there why would they plan to be a caregiver when in fact they could apply as RN and just take CRNE.

thanks to all who posted their message here. it was very helpful in lifting up each others feelings about work. I am now working in a clinic and the salary is fare enough for me, but i have to earn more because i need to make my brothers and sisters to go to school.and my salary in a clinic is not enough for them. thanks to the peole who gave informative informations on their work abroad.this will benefit everybody.

I am encourage to apply to Saudi Arabia because some agency did not require hospital experience, but i am considering my safety that most Filipinos fear about. Now I am planning to apply in other country in the different field like WELDER just to earn money for my family. Any suggestions, comments are much appreciated.thank you and GodBless. Goodluck to everybody.
