Nurses Humor

Let's do something fun! Everybody on allnurses.com has a very interesting and unique username. What is the back story of your username? Mine is just like it states, "Life's a Journey!"

One of my classmates and I were at a training session and they served soda in really tiny glass bottles, maybe 8oz. She said 'Aw, what a cute little Sprite', and it stuck with me.

I'm a firefighter and one day i was having a heck of a time using a flare to light a bon fire for the town kids pee wee football pep rally.. only to find out after a little investigation that the people in charge bought fire resistant lumber for the fire. My fellow firefighters still tease me to this day about what they originally perceived as my inability to light a fire with a flare. (it was firefightingRN which was more obvious, but this is shorter to type)

I'm an echinocandin antifungal :)
My name's Mike, I like plays on words, and I wanted something nursing related. None of my nicknames from my days as a firefighter/EMT were very... flattering.

I am a miss, a beaner, and a R.N.
I am basically making lite of the fact that I am a very proud Mexican American. I am one of those brown and proud types. "MissbeanerRN" started because back in my middle school and high school days I got into fights because my group of friends and I got called beaners by another racial group and well, I had to do what I had to do. This got me into some trouble more than once, my overly sensitive proud behind just couldn't let them diss! Had to stand my ground dang it.
Now that I matured and know better I think its pretty funny. I also know now that I let them win when I took offense and got all worked up about it and felt the need to kick some a** then my a** got kicked for being stupid.
I got a wake up call and am now a diffrent person, not so serious anymore and I try to find the humor in everything I can because its what it takes just to get by in life. Now as a grown woman there are more important things to worry/laugh about.
Now it takes a lot to offend me, and yeah I am a beaner who turned out a R.N but a proud one who likes to poke fun at life!
So that's my story

I love Rock music and I'm a nurse...pretty straight forward. I also sing in a Heavy Metal band and metal music is my life. My usual sign on is Rockgurl, and has been for the past 10 years, but for this site it's Rocknurse.

My hair is strawberry blonde and curly, so it looks like a rusty Brillo scouring pad = brillohead.

I love to laugh. People take things so seriously, and that's when they get stressed out. So I end up spending a few minutes each day online looking at the latest funny things. I love internet memes. If you Google "ceiling cat is watching" you'll find the variations on the meaning of Ceiling Cat. Not that I personally actually "watch" in real life. But it's just such a cute cat, and everyone I know seems to know the meme.

Let's see... The author of my med-surg nursing book was named Ignativicus (sp?), and, for obvious reasons, our professor would always say to open to page 'x' in 'Iggy'. Now I'm an RN in the ED. Terribly creative, I know.

Mine had to do with some of the cultural differences, spellings and different pronunciations of words from the USA to Canada.
Code Blue, we know. I didn't know what VSA meant when I moved up north. "Vital Signs Absent"
I lack imagination.....
