I didn't get the job :-( I don't know what went wrong. I felt the peer interview went really well and thought I nailed it. I'm crushed but will move on to the next.

Sorry you didnt get the job. But this just means you are meant to do something else. Your opportunity will come before you know it!

I'm sorry. Been there, done that...and yes, it sucks

However, don't be too hard on yourself because it may not have been something you did wrong. The other applicant may have just had some edge (could have been anything!) that you didn't. Or it could really have come down to dumb luck: all things being equal between you and someone else, but only one could be chosen...

Keep on the hunt and take what you've learned from this experience--if anything, you now know what a peer interview is like and that you can handle it. Best of luck!

Does this mean they will offer me the job or do they do this when there is still multiple applicants for 1 position?
My first interview in December was peer after I interviewed with the Manager. I was not offered the job.

I felt the same way but I was told from a girl I knew who worked there (but wasn't in the peer interview) that I did the best but they knew the other applicant since she worked the floor in rn school as a secretary. I felt they knew from the beginning they'd offer her the job....

They must do this a lot. A fellow student in my LPN class knew someone in the facility who suggested that she work there as receptionist while in school, get license and transition to nurse. That's exactly how it worked out, in that order. She just got her license and is now training. . It really pays to know someone, even to get hired as a receptionist is hard, this woman was a supervisor of some sort in that facility. I really wish that I knew someone like that, but no such luck!

I say don't give up and keep trying... I did NOT have ANY connections when I got my job, and there are more people I know who don't have connections rather than those who have connections that have gotten jobs. Persistence, and knowing when they are going to hire does work out best, in my experience.

It almost seems like it depends on the area.... The people I know who found jobs the easiest/quickest were the result of having a connection. The rest of us had to pound the pavement by ourselves until someone noticed us.

    Keep your head up, RNJamie12!!

Well, I got a job! The manager I interviewed with recommended me to the manager on the spine/neuro unit. I ended up interviewing over the phone and was offered the position. I'm shocked:-)
