Witnessed unsterile procedure and feeling terrible about it
Also nursing homes are much different than hospitals.. I did my clinicals at nursing homes, and it is a chore just to find sterile gloves! They did not perform sterile technique to my knowlege.

Can you find out what the statistics are for your facility pertaining to HAI? Also how long has this LPN worked there - it would seem to me if she has worked there for years, and does a lot of caths... they would have been on to her by now.

Treatment/Wound Documentation
I can only tell you what they had during my clinicals. There should be one book exclusively for wounds. All residents that have wounds are in there, and you document everything concerning the wound and care there. Just like they have one book for bowel movements, there's a wound care book. You probably know this already, but that's all I know. I haven't worked in a facility yet.

What if we had to tell the real truth when asked about our weaknesses?
Thanks for the laughs guys. This thread had me really chuckling!

peer interview= Job offer?
They must do this a lot. A fellow student in my LPN class knew someone in the facility who suggested that she work there as receptionist while in school, get license and transition to nurse. That's exactly how it worked out, in that order. She just got her license and is now training. . It really pays to know someone, even to get hired as a receptionist is hard, this woman was a supervisor of some sort in that facility. I really wish that I knew someone like that, but no such luck!

Pre screen employment testing
I am surprised, my first job application I had to take a written exam. Half geriatrics and half pediatrics. Excuse my typos and such on my iPad 2

What about a refresher course? Try not to be so hard on yourself, your heart seems like its really in nursing. . You would be a great asset to the patients, just think how many people are missing out on you. Don't waste anymore time try and make a plan for success.

Can I get some input on my resume PLEASE.
I am a newly licensed LPN, didn't receive it in the mail yet, passed it on Jan. 9th. I have given out several of my resumes last week - 2 in person and several online. Haven't heard anything yet, just want to see what you all think of my resume, constructive criticism welcome. I just don't want to keep handing it out if it is not really as good as it could/should be? Thanks in advance. Math crazy!
My school was infamous for changing the rules mid stream, it was very frustrating. We had to pass a math test that was separate from our pharmacology, but taken during the same course. On the math you had to get 100%, but had many many times to keep trying to get that 100. I did get it on the first try and the few that did not got it on the second try, so that worked out. But from the beginning to the very end, there were fumbles from soup to nuts, and we only received a syllabus the first class which was A & P after that no syllabus, and we asked for it multiple times throughout the course. :/

tell me about your most embarrassing job interview!
I think this is hysterical, something that would definitely happen to me!

what did I get myself into.
I totally get what you're saying. It seems like it is very competetive - that some of these "know it alls" is what I call them , are always trying to one up eachother, in this case even the professor! It's really difficult, but sorry to say that I dealt with it for the entire time in class. Glad it's over, just try and find one person who will stick by you and be good to be around. Try to tune the rest of them out. Good luck.
