Massachusetts board says Doc halted surgery for bank trip

  1. The Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine has suspended a surgeon's medical license after he allegedly left a patient in the middle of surgery so he could go to the bank. The patient was unharmed.

    have a surgeon who has stopped mid surgery to eat lunch.... I don't work OR, but no one reported him.

    I think it would be more dangerous for the doc to go through those long procedures (>4h) without a break. I would be all for my doc stopping for a bite, so long as the pt was stable.,

    But the STAFF didn't know what happened to the Doc. THAT was the problem!!!

    Orthopaedic surgeons have to be as strong as an ox. But they're usually at least twice as smart!

    And, as someone pointed out on the Today show this morning, not only did the doc go AWOL, but he was clearly completely distracted and concentrating more on his finances than on his patient even when he WAS physically present in the OR.
