Unexpected kindness from a nurse

Today, my grandma and I were at a hospitals food area. we just entered the store, when two nurses walked in. (I plan to start pre-requisite courses for nursing this fall so I was trying to look carefully at their name badges to see if they had a Bsn or adn.) When the employee asked to take their orders, the nurse turned to us and told us that she thought that we were ahead of them and that we could place our order first. We were still trying to decide what to order so we told them to go ahead. When it was our turn to order we told the cashier what we had purchased and she said our bill was paid. Confused, we asked what she meant. She said that the nurse had paid for our food. Wow! What an act of kindness!

Thank you, nurses!

Less about being a "nurse" who did this, and MORE about a human being doing this. Just happened to be a nurse!

Amy, they were gone before we ordered. We looked around the hallways and they were nowhere in sight. We really wanted to thank them.

I did the same thing when I got hired in Southern California....looked around at name tags to see who was a BSN. I got hired as an ADN, but I was one of the very few. BSN is definitely a better degree to have around here- especially as a new grad. In Texas, it mattered very little.

My BSN co-workers are as prepared to work as I am ...or as any of my ADN cousins. Very few nurses graduate with amazing technical skills, but I've never noticed BSN nurses lagging in any way.

Thank you! I'm trying to learn everything about nursing and I'm sorry if I upset anyone with the comment on adns being more prepared.

I think we're getting a little off base here. This was just meant to be a nice heartwarming story. Not a debate about ADN vs BSN. ;)

No matter ADN, BSN....we are still nurses and this is petty! I am a RN with an ADN, have friends and coworkers that are both, yes BSN is a little higher and can do management but it comes down to one thing.....they're both RNs!

I have no desire ever to do management, and am proud to be an RN as a ADN!

I'm not surprised a nurse would do something above and beyond to be kind. Nurses are pretty altruistic as a group!

Although it is advantageous to have an advanced degree, in the end we are RNs.

I that was a very kind thing they did....nurses are compassionate, caring individuals....regardless of their degree. Diploma, ADN, BSN are all considered ENTRY LEVEL education...a BSN is not an advanced degree.

a BSN may not be an advanced degree but it has more opportunities for career advancements though..
