We thought once we were out of school we'd be done with drama queens....and kings. But no... We still have to deal with the silly daily dramas at work. What are some of your best drama queen/king stories?

I have to say for a bunch of educated professional the drama can be outrageous.

As a manager I would hear the most ridiculous things. So and so wears too much make-up. I don't like the way she chews gum. Did you know so and so went out drinking again over the weekend. I had a sign on my desk

and I had a whining box placed there for them to place their whines.

Onceas a supervisor...I supervised at a facility of 300 beds at the main facility and a small (32 beds) sister facility that was 20 mins down the road on the coast in MA (anyone who knows the area knows which facility I am speaking of....LOL)

It is a small tight community where half of the population is related and the other half knows everyone else. Well... I had staff, who were related by marriage half removed, to someone else cousin's brother's Aunt...you get the picture...decide to carry on the family feud at work. There was only one floor open but they were separated by a hall/nurses station.

They decided to argue by paging me and reporting the other. Every 15 min my pager went off. So and so did this. so and so didn't pass water, so and so looked at me mean...blah, blah, blah. DROVE ME NUTS!. I went the diplomatic route. I did the supervisor route. I got firm in my best no more nonsense voice. Then I finally told them to "stick their heads out the widow and shout at one another as it was a much more effective way to communicate then paging me every 15 mins!" Then I told them..."don't make me come down there".

The end of the story...I had to go down there lined them up and let them know that "one more page and they were BOTH going home!".

Jeeze...the drama that place had...:facepalm:

I hear you. I once had two CNA's fighting..all...day...long. When I was at lunch, they had it out in a back office area screaming at each other. I had to leave my lunch to break up the catfight between the two of them. I know I sounded like my mom, but OMG, they were acting like children!

I work with huge drama queens. One always has marital problems, one is always tired, one is always sick and two constantly whiiine about wanting to go home early. :banghead:

Two theories on this (and they both probably apply). 1: nursing is predominantly a female occupation, and any time you have more than one female working closely together there will be drama (not to mention an inability to have the thermostat at a comfortalbe temp) and 2: most nurses are type A personalities by nature, and we're all trying to have it our way. :)

reminds me of the thermostat battles. I like it cool and we could regulate the temp...I just reminded them that they can put on a sweater I however cannot remove my clothes....LOL

Just an observation the males that have been employed in the department I have been in charge of were the worst gossips and complainers....LOL

My worst drama experience was actually in Nursing School. The two women argued every day; yelling, screaming, disrupting class, etc. That is until they ran into each other at a local dollar store and beat the living snot out of each other. They were finally removed from the program. School got a lot better after that.

I think the biggest mess I ever had to work around was when two psych aides were divorced. O. M. Goodness! That would have been bad enough but family members on both sides worked in the building or nearby ones. The couple had worked different shifts on the same building but on different floors. They were reassigned very quickly but nastiness, sarcasm, and just plain pettiness continued.

The best way to describe it is to say it was like when my Grandmother would ask my cousin and me to keep an eye on the younger kids while she folded laundry or whatever.

When I think of drama I think of: co worker goes into severe anaphylaxis requiring intubation in the ER after someone puts sea food in the microwave… or homeless man locks himself in the bathroom every night to get off the streets and then hides in the ceiling ducts… locks door, won't come out… police called, blacksmith called… blacksmith has no idea how to open the door and destroys the door and still can't open it. or anesthesiologist and nurse caught in the act in a closet…
