New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Yes Dream I work as a nurse here. But eventhough, my application with AHPRA is not a walk in the park. I went through the eye of the needle. God bless.

Yes i've read all you posts and it's like almost a year before you receive the letter.. :) it's still good since you don't need to undergo BP :)

Congrats again :)

Hi.. :) if im not mistaken, by the time you apply, some schools require only a deposit to ensure your slot.. However, you need to pay in full upon enrolment :)

Oh thanks. Anyway, do you think it would be easy to get a part time job while your taking the bridging program?

Ooops sorry to mislead.. It's just that a friend of mine (not an australian citizen) got her scholarship in a university in brisbane.. So instead of paying certain amount, it was cut by 5k :)

Really? On what criteria do they base in giving these scholarships?...because BPs are just so expensive...it would really help if the tuition's at least cut by half...

No i dont think that's possible.. Because of the kind of visa you will have when you will undergo BP.. I think the visa that will be granted will not allow you to work.. However, if you will take BP in a school with CRICOS and you have a student visa, then you can work while studying, if i'm not mistaken. :)

I do not know really about their criteria.. I did not ask my friend about it.. Well enrolling in a bachelor's degree course is way too expensive than taking the BP.. I think taking BP is the cheapest and fastest way if you wanna work as a nurse in australia :)

Hi Cummulus, I've been here for more than 9 yrs now. While waiting for my LOE, I submitted my cv to WA Dept. of Health last March 2012 fortunately I got a reply last week scheduling me to discuss my interest in working in WA this coming friday just in time I got my LOE. Hopefully something good will come out from this discussion. Thank you.

Your application has been assessed and has been referred to the Registration Committee for consideration on Friday 8/6/2012. We will advise accordingly following the meeting.

How long will it take them to inform me the final outcome of my application? thank you.

Aww ok, thanks!...last question...i've really been searching of schools in ACT that offers bridging program, but i can't seem to find any...perhaps you know or could suggest any schools there?

My relatives lives in ACT, plus my aunt works as a nurse in Canberra too. I figured, it would be cheaper, and easier if I could just live with them during the course.

Hello, thanks for the reply. I would like to know when is your scheduled intake for ACFE melbourne?when are you leaving?Did you apply by just by yourself? or you have an agency to help you out? How much is the tuition fee at ACFE? Do you have filipino friends who are on the same batch as you. I am enrolled in ETEA located in Heidelberg Victoria, just 20 mins drive from ACFE melbourne.. I would like to know if you know somebody who is enrolled in ETEA as well. . what about the accommodation when you get there? Is it possible for me to contact you just in case, even though we are not on the same school, just to have some Filipino companions later on.

Hoping for your reply... Thanks again... God Bless..
