Graduate in the Philippines to take NCLEX in California

World Registration

HI, I'd like to ask if someone has the same sitch as me and what they did.

I am a graduate of Manila Doctors College last May 2011.

I'm back here in California. I am a permanent resident (green card holder). I have read on the CA.RR.GOV that I do not need to take the Philippine local boards or the cgfns and the toefl exam to take the NCLEX.

I have already accomplished my livescan and sent in my application and paid 150$.

Now they have sent me a letter requiring me with the following things:

1. Class schedule for the nursing program completed at MDC

2. Transcript for all education and training sent from MDC

3. Enrollment forms during my nursing years

4. Clinical rotation schedule and/or student logbook reflecting dates, instructor's signature and location of clinical training completed

5. Social security card

6. Passport and visa

I have no problem with numbers 2,5 and 6. But my the others I don't know how to get. :( I don't have a copy of my class schedules anymore, and so as my enrollment forms for 4 years. and most importantly, the clinical rotation schedule with dates and instructor's signature. :( HOW WERE YOU GUYS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT? I'm self reviewing for my exam and going to the library everyday, but right now i cant focus because I don't know how to accomplish these things. :(

I REALLY HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME AN ADVICE ON WHAT'S THE BEST THING TO DO.

Hi, is it true that before I can accomplish my application for CA NCLEX I should have the US security number first?

If you don't qualify for the SSN, you can also try to get an ITIN number from the IRS. You may apply as of April, 2015 with the ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number).

However, you will still need to meet all the requirements to get the ITIN number. It's not that easy to obtain one.

It is NOT a "work authorization" number status. It's a way for the IRS to make you file a tax return so that if you're entitled to a refund, great, but it also means you could owe taxes too.

Google "how to get an ITIN number".

Hi, do you know if I can get ITIN number thou I live outside U.S?

Did you Goggle on how to get an ITIN number as suggested? There's a FAQ's or simply e-mail them.

Officially you can't get an ITIN simply to apply for a professional license. There are only specific reasons & exceptions. Professional licensing requirement isn't one:

it means that CA will not accept application without a US SSN and they assess your paperwork before deciding whether you meet their requirements or not

There is no CA NCLEX. It's a national exam. Without a SSN or eligibility for an ITIN you are not eligible for a CA nursing license by examination or endorsement. Are you in the states? Do you have work rights or a job in CA? Do you plan on living & working in CA? (there is no shortage of nurses in CA, unemployment is ~50% for nurses in many areas)

No, I live in the Phils. My Aunt is a nurse in CA and asking me to take NCLEx so if there's an opportunity she can take me there. Their company has the advantage of getting nurses outside the state. Don't know how, but unfortunately for me that was impossible. :( better luck next time :) Thank you for answering all of my questions ;)

Most PH applicants now apply with the TX BRN as they don't require the SSN, they will give you a non-working application file number so that you can take the exam.

The catch is that you'll need a SSN to get the actual license released.

Trying to endorse the TX license to CA will still need either the ITIN or SSN number and you'll still need to meet the CA BRN requirements (if your transcripts can pass the concurrency rules).

Have you asked your aunt if she knows of any recent nurses that was able to obtain their CA licenses? Those who graduated prior to 2005 doesn't really count as there's not too much of an issue there, so make sure your aunt is referring to those after the 2005 graduation date or more recently who were able to get their CA license.

Actually, she doesn't know about the requirement of SS or ITIN number. Lol. I already ask her about this thing, but she's busy and I think most of her colleagues are non Filipino that why she was unable to verify it to others. She also graduated at CA that's why she doesn't know this concurrency rules when I'm trying to explain it to her. :)

Hello everyone! been backreading threads reg: CA Nclex..I hope someone here could enlighten me in my dilemma with my current situation..I passed the CA Nclex in 2007 but since I am still here in the Philippines and I don't have SSN yet, I wasn't able to process it to get my CA RN license..now, my priority date is current and I am waiting for my schedule of interview at the US embassy..will the CA BON honor my nclex in 2007 or am I going to have a new application to take the NCLEX once I am in the US?
