Duke ABSN Fall 2011

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hi all!

I know its early and the application isn't due until December 1st, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to the Duke ABSN program to start in August of 2011! I've already read through some of the previous semesters' threads and it seems like a great outlet for discussion/ questions/ nerves!

Let me know :)

Yeah, seriously! I'm so anxious! Looks like it'll be tomorrow....

Hear, Hear!

I was hoping that they would send the email at 5 so that they didn't have to field all our calls til tomorrow. The chance of this being true is looking slimmer and slimmer as time wears on....

Bananaducks, it's 4:59 pm, so it could be anytime now. On the other hand, tomorrow is not that far away. I feel like a kid who is waiting for Christmas morning to come. It's sort of an exciting feeling, so I'm not too distressed at the wait. Hope it is soon though.

So now there is zero chance of an email today now that it's after 5pm?

I've been putting my phone on silent and hiding it while I drive. I know that if I heard the little "ding" of mail and the phone was within arms reach I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation of trying to sneak a peek while on the road.

Happy Wednesday everyone! I think it'll be an exciting day.

For those of you "lurking" (yes, we can see you even if you can't see us ;) ). If you hear anything be sure to post, ok? It's nicer to share.

I see that there are 3 members and 13 guests looking for news on this page. Wish I had some for you. I comfort myself in knowing that whatever the outcome of the decision making process today, this is not the only path to our goals.

Our lives do not depend on this one decision by the admissions staff at Duke, but on the many small decisions that we will make today and everyday hereafter. We are fortunate to live in a society where there are many paths to the same goal, and we are free to continue to pursue them regardless of the decisions made by others on this day. When one door closes, so many others are still open to us. For that, I am extremely grateful.

Whether we go to Duke or not, those who wish to serve others and impact their lives will still be able to do so. It may not be through this path at this time, but it may well be that another less expensive route may be equally satisfactory and be better for our family's finances. Ultimately, it is what we put into the lives of others that brings true satisfaction, not where we go to school or what degrees we have.

That said, I hope that all of the members of this discussion are admitted to Duke today and that we will become a community of nurse leaders who will change the face of our communities and American society in general. I wish you all well and hope that great peace, joy, and contentment will be yours today and always.

Beautifully said Norma. I feel the same way.

Best of luck to everyone.

I'm cheering for you all! Hope that you get good news soon! (Then please come back in the fall and tell me how it is going!) :D

I went back and read the powerpoint they gave us at Duke Days and it says that they would inform us between the middle to the end of February....I sure hope it's more towards the middle of the month because if I have to wait one more day I might spontaneously combust!

Thanks for putting this in perspective, Norma. I really needed the pep talk this morning. You're absolutely right, things will be fine either way. :) I'm sending you all calm thoughts and best wishes from the west coast. I'm glad that I'm three hours behind 'Duke time'. It gives me 3 less hrs of email checking.

three less hours of checking is great- I agree!

I'm glad that Norma put it all in perspective- I do have to say that I want this badly, more than I've wanted anything else in a long while, so I'll find another path to my goal of becoming a nurse if Duke doesn't happen. I'm just hoping that this is the path I'll be taking!!

Hello all! I received an email from that fantastic person earlier this morning around 9:09 am. She stated,

"We had a delay with getting the letters out. I am hoping this will be resolved today or tomorrow. I can’t release any decisions yet."

I am truly hoping that something is sent today. I am tooooo anxious.
