St Pauls School of Nursing 2010 Acceptance

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey, has anyone else received an acceptance letter for the spring 2010 semester? :D

Your welcome, also check out the false advertising in the daily news on March, 10, 2011, today's paper, it say's that st. paul's has been around since 1889 and that the school has prepared thousands of students for successful health care careers. It was in the daily news, the education section page 4!!!!! Funny because they only started in 2009!!!!!! There is definetly something checking into before applying their!!!!!!

It say's there are accredited by the ABHES or Accrediting Burea of Health education schools, who is this group and does that mean , cause I thought Regional accreditation was supposed to be given by NLNAC. I know schools accept NLNAC credits, but Never heard of ABHES!!! CONFUSED!!!!!!!

St Pauls loves to ride on the old St Vincents coat tails and claim that they are the same school, therefore have achieved the same things. This is completely false. They BOUGHT St Vincents when St Vincents went bankrupt. St Vincents was a wonderful school with a well deserved wonderful reputation. Ever since becoming SPSON the NCLEX pass rate for this school dropped into the low 80s, do not listen to anyone who tells you that SPSON is accredited under St Vincents name because thats not legally possible, it is a different institution. I was originally interested in attending St Pauls right when they switched over from St V's because I was not ready to transfer into St V's before they sold, however I have seen just how much things do not add up with this new school and will be taking my money elsewhere.

I see what you mean, I wonder where potential students are getting their info that st. paul's is nln accreditede. If someone at the school is telling them that they are isn't that illegal if they are not. Sounds fishy!!! Seems like they are riding on st. vinny's good reputation, just look at the daily news article on march 10, 2011. It says st. paul's has been around since 1889 and has graduated thousands of students. I think not!!!! Who ever is considering st. paul's better do some research first, it seems they is alot of false, misleading and bothersome facts given by the school.

Hi,

I have a question for the students who are currently attending St Paul's. I am really interested in the school but am worried about the NLN accreditation. I am calling the school just to simply ask the Dean of Nursing if the school is pending being accredited but I cannot get past the receptionist. He is pretty rude.

I am not trying to start a dilemma however my plan is just to get my RN so I can attend Columbia's MSN program there after with using my non nursing Bach.

So my question to the students is if you know if the school is going to soon be accredited? I don't understand why they cannot answer this simple question with a Yes or a No.

Thanks :-)

hi there if you want to find out if a school is accredited you can contact the board of nursing in your state if it is New York here is some info:

Current Sophomore Student

Starting class size is around 60, my class now is around 50.

We have had meetings with the Dean of the school and from her mouth she has admitted that we are NOT NLN accredited. We are working towards it but there is no set time frame as to when that will happen.

Our NLN passing rate is also from what I know in the low to mid 80th percentile. When I filed for my 2011 financial aid for SPSON they gave me the passing rate for the previous year or two I cant remember specifically.

All I can say is do your research, I dont believe SPSON is the best choice out there but some people dont really have a choice. The school is so poorly coordinated/managed I sometimes find it inconceivable and often none of us feel like we are really getting what we are paying so much for, 500+ per credit. I see it for what it is. A chance at an education and to take my NCLEX. What you do with it is your own business.

Thanks for your honesty, to many people are afraid to say it. Good luck with your studies!!!!!!

Hi all I am currently enrolled in a CUNY school for nursing and was thinking of transfering to St. Pauls Queens Campus. I have seen so many mixed reviews that I am now comfused. I do work full time and I know going to St Pauls would be alot plus the tuition is through the roof. Is it really worth it? Any help would be grealty appreciated.

I'm curious. What makes you want to transfer out of your CUNY program? I think that based on that answer, we can figure out if SPSON is a good option for you.

St. Pauls is a lot closer for me. To travel after a long day of work really can take a toll on me. Plus at St pauls I can do full time nights at CUNY they only have a few night classes. But with the reviews being what they are im a little freaked out with putting all my money on the line.

Personally, I'd stay put. I travel to get there over 1 hour, work full time, and am full time at SPSON. Classes start at 430pm. Last minute changes to class times and deadlines are constantly being imposed. Yet we are all expected to comply because we've "signed our life away to nursing school". I'm waiting to finish, and move on.

I'd bite the bullet and stay if I were you. But that's just me.

I just got my application today. I'm going to apply and hope that i get in. I am currently enrolled in a CUNY school also however, I want to get my foot in the door to become a nurse. I really hope i get accepted. lets see.

Don't do it, you will be sorry. Type in complaints against st. paul's school of nursing on the search for allnurses, and see all the negatives!!!
