St Pauls School of Nursing 2010 Acceptance

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey, has anyone else received an acceptance letter for the spring 2010 semester? :D

The male receptionist, is he at the Queens location? I have been dealing with the Staten Island location and the girl who answers the phone is just plain rude.

I was wondering are there any new students at spson queens that started in 2011. I am trying to find out the class size? Some one told me that there are almost 90 students in the freshman class and close to 80 in the sophtmore class?

Is there a chair here I can speak to?:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Saint Vincent's nursing programs in both Queens and Richmond (Staten Island) have ceased to exsist, are gone, kaput, finished, pushing up flowers...., and whatever status they had from the NLN went with them. There is no such thing as "taking over" a closed school's accreditation status. Saint Paul's will have to file the required paperwork and go through the process to obtain anything from the NLNAC

You can go over to the NLN website and look for yourself: http://www.nlnac.org/Forms/directorySearch.asp

Both Saint Vinny's programs are no longer listed, and there is *NOTHING* about Saint Paul's even applying for status.

Which spson are you in at queens or staten island?

Are there any freshman or sophmores from queens campus. I wanted to know what you experience has been like so far? And I was wondering what is the makeup of the class? Men to Women? Ethnicity? age?

I strongly disagree with you, you must work for spson, because almost all the stuff you wrote is a lie!!!!!

I was told they were NLN accredited by the admissions rep, was there anyone else told this? It seems that this is a serious issue here. Are they or are they not? How does Kara post yes that they are nln accredited, did you guys see the plaque in the lobby that says NLN members and were told that only the name changed and everything else is the same!!!!! I noticed on a few other threads that there is definetly confusion to this question depending on who is answering!

hi,

yes the school is NLN accredited but just under st vincents name. they r in the process of getting the name changed.

:twocents:Who told you they were nln accredited? I was told the same thing!!! But when I called NLN they said they were not!!!!!

I called NLN and they said they were not. I recieved a call back from a representative from the Queens location and hopefully he can clear this up. I hope they are pending accreditation because this is right up my alley and they are affordable too :-)

This has gone on far too long, so made a telephone call to the NLNAC in Atlanta, and was informed in no uncertain terms Saint Paul's Schools of Nursing (Queens or Richmond (Staten Island) are *NOT* accredited, nor are they in any sort of status to be so.

As for the "NLN", they are a different professional group based in New York, who at one time was part of NLNAC, but no longer. The former deals with testing and promoting nursing "excellence" within the profession, but only the later accredits nursing programs. Most anyone involved with nursing can join the NLN, you simply pays membership dues.

Checking the NLN website, there is *NO* mention of SPSON (either campus), being a member. Maybe I missed something, so please go and check for yourselves:

Finally the nice person I spoke with at the NLNAC told me they get lots of telephone calls about SPSON (mainly seeking information regarding status), so there you are.

If anyone is told by staff or anyone connected with Saint Paul's that the school is accredited by the NLNAC, and or is in the process of obtaining such status, ask to SEE IT IN WRITING!

Education Associates is a chain of for profit schools of higher education. For profit means just that, they need students to attend their schools or they don't make any money for themselves and or investors. Such schools have been under fire lately by the federal and state governments for promising students things that weren't true in order to get them to sign on the dotted line. Many students find out only later (after graduating/or not) after spending vast sums and often ending up with huge student loan debts they were given a load of flannel.

Quite honestly I'd be very leery of attending any school for anything that wouldn't give a straight answer to a direct question, and or plays fast and loose with the truth. NLN is not the same as NLNAC, and anyone involved in the education or hiring of nurses who is on their game knows this.

Thank you dogoodthengo! It seems you done alot of research, I was interested in knowing because I want to continue and get a bsn. I want to make sure my credits transfer to other schools. I know that if schools are not nlnac, they do not accept credits from non nlnac schools. Alot of hospitals want bsn degree nursing these days!!!! Cuny and Suny does not accept credits from ST. Paul's. The Board of education was at SPSON in staten Island, and this was a big problem, Among other serious problems. Seems there was a walkout after spson enforced a hesi exit exam and the seniors walkout out on the school and notified board of ed and they steped in and told spson that they could not use it as a gatekeeper as spson wanted, they could only use the test as 10% on their final 205 grade. On top of that, they said alot of the professors left, because they did not like the policies being implemented that were not fair, and they passed seniors that should not have passed. I have to get more info, when I get it, I will pass it on!!!! Oh there seems to be a lawsuit filed by a student against spson and education affiliates, any one else heard anything??

OMG thanks so much. This is awful! I wouldve been stuck with a ADN and not progress to get my CNM in the long run. It wouldve been a waste of time and of course MONEY.

Thanks you awesome

Your welcome, also check out the false advertising in the daily news on March, 10, 2011, today's paper, it say's that st. paul's has been around since 1889 and that the school has prepared thousands of students for successful health care careers. It was in the daily news, the education section page 4!!!!! Funny because they only started in 2009!!!!!! There is definetly something checking into before applying their!!!!!!
