LPN salary in New York??

Hey everyone! I am planning to start an LPN program in August. After that I plan to immediately go for my ADN through Excelsior. I was just wondering how much you New York LPN's really get paid per hour? (If you don't mind me asking) I just want to know what to expect.

I'm planning to work in Brooklyn (maybe Maimonides ) or Staten Island. But of course, keeping my options open.

I'm a LPN at a nursing home located not too far from Maimonides and I cuurently make $22.34/hr with differential for evening & night shift and that's on the low side. Agencies can pay you upwards of $32/hr. But honestly if you are planning on working in New York unless you have connections or a ton of experience it's very hard getting hired in a hospital, that includes Maimonides. Not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you a heads up.

    Hello,
Lpn's in NY nursing homes start with $21 if they're unionized thru 1199!!! If it's private, they can start with $25 as staff/ft, and per diem LPN's can make up to $33/hr depending on the place. If you work thru a staffing agency it's more likely that you'll make that kind of money but you will be sent to the nastiest most disgusting nursing homes that will present you a REAL risk of losing ur license!! Hospitals hardly hire lpn's anymore, however the ones in the HHC network do, but still hardly ever.
RN's in a nursing home make the regular RN salary starting at $35 at least, but per diem can go up to $55/hr. I worked at a nursing home in nassau county that paid RN's per diem at $55!!!!
    I hope this info helped.

This thread is interesting. I thought I knew more than anybody else because I went from LPN to RN. However, I don't even know an RN can get up to $55/hour. The agency sent me to Columbia University Medical Center and it paid me $47.50/hour for a Med/Surg Unit.
Well, let's go back to the main topic. The LPN can get up to $25/hr with benefits. If benefits are what you are looking for, I recommend you guys to work for some nursing homes owed by the City of New York. For an agency, if the agency send you to a nursing home, you can get up to $27 or $28/hr. I am not so sure if hospital will hire LPN's. Many of them don't!
    Good luck.

    There are 4 of them:
1)Dr. Susan Smith Mckinney Nursing and Rebab Center
    2)Gouverneur Healthcare Services
3)Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital & Nursing Facility
4)Seaview Hospital Rebab Center and Home.

Coler-Goldwater is a 2000 beds facility; so you might have a better chance to get a job if the facility is hiring.
Gouverneur Healthcare Services is a long term care facility. It has a clinic on the ground level.
    Good luck!

hello ladies an LPN in the westchester area pays anywhere from 21-32/hr the nursing homes in this area begin "staff" 23-24/hr depending on experience..now per-diem rates 25-28/hr Elant @ brandywine is at 29/per-diem The VA @ montrose 32/hr per-diem . Bethel Nursing home in Croton, ny (BTW The Va is right down the road) they have their own "in-house" agency that pays i beleive its 35/hr? (anyone can correct me on this one but i did hear its up there!..lol)...so the pay is NOT bad at all in westchester i cant tell you about NYC but i know there is a nursing home in New Jersey (sorry forgot the name but i can get back to you on that one) that pays "on-staff" LPN's 28/hr. For some reason i never understood why they pay slightly higher in NJ than in NY...i guess it depends it all evens out...hope i helped much!...good luck
