To Study or Not to Study???

Nursing Students NCLEX

SO...I take my NCLEX tomorrow. I have been religiously doing Kaplan since I graduated on 7/11 and the LaCharity PDA book for the past 2 weeks.

I feel like I should be doing something to prepare for the test tomorrow, but I have read so many comments and books that say to take the day off before you test! During school, I always studied right up to bedtime the night before a test so this "Do Nothing" approach is killing me! I think I might review rationales on some of the QBank tests I didn't do so hot on and maybe look through the Kaplan course book a little bit.....AGHHHHHHHHHHH what do I do?

I am just not a person to sit around and relax, especially after 2 years of nursing school and constant studying - I don't really know what it's like to not study?? :nailbiting:

Relax. You are not going to learn any thing new today.

I know it's hard to resist the urge...but, put the books alway and keep them away. Trying to fit anymore information in a this point will do nothing but drive you crazy.

Relax, get out and get some air, watch something funny, and give your brain a rest. Sometimes getting your mind off of the exam can be the best preparation .

I am the same way, I don't know when to stop studying. I tried to review the day before my exam, did it help? No. I just kept finding more information that I thought I didn't know and needed to study. Truth is nobody can know everything. You have been preparing for this day. Just know that you have prepared to the best of your ability and now all you can do is relax and get your mind right for tomorrow.

Good Luck!

Relax. Do something fun. Exercise.

Personally, I reviewed up until the last 30 mins before my test. I just looked at basic stuff; lab values, hot spots, EKG drugs and acid-base. I would not say that this would work for everyone but that was something I needed to do personally to control my nerves and is apart of my nature/study pattern.

Good Luck on your test :)

Don't study too much. Though for me, I'd review your labs and infection control....things that should be in your long term memory already. These are "need to knows" on NCLEX. Also, ensure you have some strategies down, and read each question and answer carefully tomorrow on your test.

Best of luck - you can do this!! :)

Thank-you so much for the advice! I am trying to relax and do some crafts to calm down...........I know I will not learn anything new at this point and really "I know what I know and it is what it is!!"

I am the same way. Everyone said to relax that day, so I tried...I really tried! Decided to go to the pool with friends. I found out I was stressing so much because I just felt like I should be studying. Decided that the stress was worse than studying, so I gave up on relaxation and studied my weak points.

Everyone says to relax, but if it is causing you too much angst, then study, but go easy. You already know you aren't going to learn a whole lot...and you most likely already have this in the bag...but don't stress yourself out doing something that isn't right for you just because we all tell you to.

And pray a lot!

Best of luck!

Just wanted to update and say I PASSED! pearson still has my results unavailable but I have an active license on the Ohio website. Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement!!

exactly how do you find if you have an active license on the board of nursing??? I keep looking but cant find it. My BON is for New York but im not sure where to go

xojamieox, Congratulations! Feels great doesn't it!

xaldin4life, every state BON is different, so someone from NY probably needs to advise you and I'm not from NY. Usually the BONs will have a link somewhere to look u a license and you can tye in first and last name and find it if it's there yet on their generic site. When you registered for your ATT, did you do that online? If so, you can log in with the credentials you used and there should be a link for your status. Best of luck!
