Possible to Pass NCLEX Without Mastering SATAs?

  1. 0 I'm currently preparing for NCLEX, have no date scheduled yet as my school has recently certified our degrees and am awaiting my ATT. But as I do questions, I am noticing that SATAs are NOT my cup of tea. I get some correct, but most others I get wrong, oftentimes by just one choice (an extra one or one less than I should have). I hate them!!

So, I get nervous hearing that people are getting a LOT of these on their NCLEX, especially when they say they pass. Is it some way possible that one can pass NCLEX without completely mastering the SATAs? I'm hoping this is possible even if it means getting more than 75 questions. I have been working with my Saunders book and NCLEX 4000 and getting in the 70-75% range on average.

    Thanks for all replies!

    Hi,

I took my Nclex in early May and passed! I like yourself was terrified of SATA. To practice I used Saunders 5th edition. I did at least 25 SATA a day and it really helped when it came time for NCLEX-RN. I like most people also got about 40 SATA. They are simple so don't be too discouraged. For example, you may get a question that is asking what are the signs and symptoms of elder abuse. I did have an actual question that asked that. Not too hard. Good luck!

Im in the same boat. Im not good at SATAs either. I had no idea there could be so many on the exam. I guess I should start doing a bunch of those every day this week. 4 more days to get ready.

I only got 5-10 SATA. I passed with 75 questions. However, some of my classmates got 35-40 questions out of 75. So it is random on which style test you get and what topics are covered. You should be prepared to get those type of questions just in case. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

i'd strongly suggest you figure out how to solve em because the computer will know you're weak in it and keep grilling you. That's why its important to be knowledgeable in all areas vs. having holes. I for one throughout nursing school skipped all of the SATAs but it was only 1-2 questions so it wasn'ta big deal well suffice to say in my nclex i got no less than 25 out of 75 questions as SATA so you k,now i was freaking out.

Gist of it is to rewrite each option as a question and see if it make sense but you'll hvae to find your own method and do a bunch alot of those so you get the feel for it. GOOD LUCK!

The best bet on how to get through the SATA is to treat each answer if it was a True or False. Only look at one answer at a time. If you look at all the answers at once it will just confuse you.

Theoretically, you could get a test composed of nothing but SATA style questions, while theoretically, you could get a test with no SATA style questions. I would focus on the material facts, and as previously advised, remember to look at each selection alone, as you tick off your possible answers. That is the best advice I have ever seen regarding the SATA style of questions. We tend to confuse ourselves when we look at the forest, instead of the individual trees. Good luck.
