Hi all,
I was wondering if someone who has taken the exam before and also done kaplan can help me with this. I am testing for nclex rn in less than 2 weeks and i am not sure about the questions in the qbank. are they similar or are they a bit harder than the nclex exam?
As i have been preparing, my scores have stayed roughly the same in above 60%-69%. i have scored 56 and 59 as well on rough days. What are my chances of passing?
CONGRATULATIONS WSOXGIRL,
Thank you for your update regarding my original question. I completed my qtrainer 6 today and i am really amazed at the score i achieved. I just hope that the actual exam is similar to today's performance. I think now that i have read a lot of posts, i think anything above 60% is very good. I will tell you all my story and share my scores once i have done my exam.
i feel so anxious i only got 63% on qt6 and havent review the rationale. its so overwhelming... will try to take the qt7 tomorrow half half.. cause i got headache after taking qt6..i still have 2 weeks to study.. dont wanna skip a day without doing q&a.. im nervous felt so tired but cant sleep
I thought Kaplan was a lot like the exam - I did not find the NCLEX questions to be easier. In fact, I finished at 75 questions and had more than 50 SATA - my only complaint about Kaplan was that there were not enough of these. I would recommend the books available online for practice if you have time before the exam (if you are taking it in a week or two then it's probably not a good idea).
For me the best part of Kaplan was the expert trainer you could ask questions - they always got back to me in just a few hours and helped me think more critically about questions I got wrong (where when I read the rationale I still didn't get why the answer was correct).
I think for those just starting to study, Kaplan is a great resource with all the questions in the Qbank and the sample exams along with the online videos and question content.
For those with a long drive I really recommend the Feuer CDs - I drove 1 1/2 hours each day and listened to them and that really helped as well.
I just didn't find that the questions were that similar. Keep in mind that I didn't pay for the qtrainers, etc. I just used the free app with limited questions, reviewed the 2014 review book, and completed the practice test in the book. I guess I just felt that the NCLEX Mastery and NCSBN were more similar.
hi rebecca,
my tutor gave us the details of that free app and somehow i wasn't convinced. free is definitely not anywhere similar to the paid review so i understand why you did not like it. also its your personal learning style. i personally understand things a lot better if it had colours, pictures basically being visual and auditory and kaplan unfortunately cannot carry that either in their textbook or in their videos and that is one thing i did not like (visual). also, there are so many spelling errors in the qbank questions and explanations. i sometimes read an explanation and think, what did they mean here. so apart from that, they have delivered the concept very well and learning strategies is also very good.

I passed the second week of September with 75 q and my qbank score (with 100% done) was only 63% so I think you are in good shape! I personally thought Kaplan was harder than the NCLEX, but everyone's opinions are different!
