Just took my NCLEX...

I promised myself I wouldn't make a post for this, but naturally, I am too panicked to keep that promise. I just took my NCLEX this morning. I told myself to go slow and take my time, and I truly felt I was taking forever. I tried not to look at the clock or the questions, but in the end, I was at 75 questions in only 45 minutes and my computer shut off.

I had TONS of SATA which are my biggest weakness--at least 40-50% of my test! I took the SATA test on Kaplan and got a 34%. I practiced a bunch before, but I still feel they are a weak point for me.

Now, only 20 minutes out of the exam, I am convincing myself I have failed. I did well all through nursing school, and none of the questions really threw me for a loop, but I know if I got any part of the SATA question wrong, I got the whole question wrong. I think it is too soon and I am too scared to do the PVT trick. I guess I'm just looking for moral support. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that I failed.

I felt the same why back when I took mine and it shut off at 75. I went home and cried. I passed though!! Hope u do too!! [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

I felt the same way when I took my NCLEX two days ago. I had a lot of prioritization, infection control, SATA, and chronic condition questions. I felt like I was guessing on every question. 75 questions later, the screen went blank.

The feelings of failure are mutual across the board. I'm sure you did great! Let us know when you find out [emoji4]

I feel the exact same way as you. I just finished my exam a few hours ago. After about an hour it cut off at 75. I had a good bit of SATA, which is a weak spot for me as well. I honestly don't know if I passed or failed and too scared to do the PVT. I'm just going to keep myself busy for the next few days and hope for the best. Good luck to you!

I don't know why I feel compelled to respond to the "It shut off at 75 questions, I think I failed" threads. I know everyone has self doubt, but you need to think logically and not emotionally. When the tests stops at 75 questions you either did very well and passed or did extremely poorly and failed. What are the odds that a graduate that did well in school would fail at 75 questions? Do you honestly think that you failed it so badly that it determined that you do not deserve more questions?

1. You did well in school

2. You took your time and still finished in 45 min.

3. Tons of SATAs (not an definitive indication of "pass level" questions, but a good sign)

4. "None of the questions really threw me for a loop"

5. You only had 60 real questions, the other 15 are beta and don't count (how many of those did you get wrong?)

I passed at 75 questions and had half were SATA or alt. format. I knew that I got most of them wrong.

I have to agree with Guy in Babyland. I took my NCLEX yesterday in 75 questions and even though I got tons of SATA & questions about things I've never even heard of, I still feel confident that I passed. Basically it just seems very logical to me that the chances of passing with 75 are much higher than failing with 75. Did you read Guy in Babyland's post on this very topic? Check it out - he makes a good case.

Anyway, I'll find out for sure tomorrow evening if I passed, but in the meanwhile I will stay calm, eat, sleep and remain confident in my knowledge. You will be fine.

And btw, the PVT is allowing me to re-register from what I can tell. I don't actually submit my CC info and I've heard it both ways - you HAVE to submit and you DON'T have to submit (just making it to CC page means you failed). We will see.....I don't trust PVT - I think PV has wised up to that and want that $7.95 from all of us! Good luck!
