Just found out I failed NCLEX for the third time! Help!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I took the NCLEX for the third time on May 6 and today found out that I did not pass once again. To say I am devastated is an understatement. I have done Kaplan three times now, HURST, read the entire Saunders book, and most recently had a tutor. I feel like I have exhausted all my options which leaves me feeling hopeless and I don't know what to do next. I wont allow myself to give up. I know that I am going to a good nurse but right now I don't know what to do. I would love to hear from others who have failed or those who have some suggestions for me!

It might just be test anxiety honestly. Try going to your doctor. I'm sure if you passed nursing school you're smart because it is difficult. How did you do on your exams while you were in school!

figure out what your weakness is. is it content? is is test taking techniques? is it just anxiety?

how well did you do on the study material you used?

sometime different material will give you conflicting answers.

try talking to the school, maybe they have help to offer you.

good luck!

It may be anxiety but this time around I felt more calm. Could be something to investigate further though! I would say I was pretty average in nursing school. I got A's and B's.

The first and second time my focus was all content, but preparing myself to take the test for a third time is when I found a tutor who focused only on test taking strategies. I thought that was my golden ticket. So I guess that leaves me with anxiety? Ahh I don't know. Thanks for your comment!

Everyone is different. I know I have trouble when there's more than 1 right answer.

I'm wondering, do you know the passing % for your school?

Yes that is true. A lot of the question are correct you just have to choose the best one out of the correct ones.. If that makes any sense. Don't be too hard on yourself. ☺️

I am sorry :( I wanted to ask, how many practice questions are you doing? Not review but actual questions? This is my opinion (others may disagree with me!), but I think nclex is knowing how to answer the questions. I think someone can review until they are blue in the face, but if they don't PRACTICE the questions they may struggle. Find yourself a good source of practice questions---ones that also have the rationales--- (hopefully this is ok to list here...I did the prepu nclex 10,000 and the questions on the RN NCLEX mastery app. The mastery app was 30 bucks, the prepu was around 85.00)

Think of it like learning an instrument: You can read about it, learn to read sheet music, read how to place your fingers, etc...but if you don't actually practice PLAYING the instrument...

Good luck to you!! :D

Where did you go to nursing school? We're your test there NCLEX style test?

Aliciajade sorry to hear that pls read my story under plastic 100%

Search multiple NCLEX failures... there was a really good post on here made by a nurse who failed multiple times, then BOOM passed on (I think) his/her fourth try. The author had some excellent insight for how or why they think they failed so many attempts and then why they finally passed. Finding and reading that post might help you. :) Good luck! I do not envy you. I have another year and a half before I have to worry about that test.
