GOOD POP UP

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hey guys!

Took NCLEX today for the second time. It turned off at 168 questions. I had so many SATA questions that I lot count, many priority, delegation and teaching questions, lots of infection control (this time I was ready for those;-) ), 1 hot spot, 2 ekg, 1 math and 4 or 5 correct order.

This time around of course I received questions I didn't know, but I felt SO MUCH MORE confident in my answer choices. I was much more prepared mentally, as well.

I am SO excited, I can't stand it.

Failing in January was such a depressing thing for me. I lost my position in an awesome cardiac residency program and I really felt like giving up (never taking NCLEX again-lol). But, I read stories on here and decided I had come way too far to give up, and boy am I glad I changed my perspective!! :-)

After failing, this time I told myself, hey, you might fail again, and it will be okay this time. I didn't even let myself get excited about the possibility of passing. I was convinced I would have 265 questions again, so when it shut off at 168, I almost screamed! haha... I got home and tried PVT, and have tried several times since, and it's the good one!!!

Still in shock... can't wait for the official report from my board:-)

Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement!!!!

This such an inspiring post.................OMG! Keep us posted on your results. What are you gona do about that residency program, will you apply again?

Congratulations!!!!! What did you use this time around? I know you must feel relieved

:-))))

Well, they said they would hold me a spot with the next rotation of new grads, but that's not until August or September.

I have a 10monthold, and my husband who doesn't make much has been supporting us financially... SO, i NEED to work asap.

Funny thing is, last week my RN friend from my first CNA position in dialysis called and moved up to a charge nurse position. She called to recruit me in... she said they have an opening! I loved working in dialysis, so I am super stoked about this opportunity. Just emailed my resume and cover letter tonight. I'll wait and see what happens.

Funny how things work. I firmly believe God has a plan and is in charge. Maybe this is why I failed the first time around.... who knows?! :-)

Thank you so much!! I am SO relieved. It's crazy. Still in shock.

This time I used Hurst (again).... but I actually took it seriously. I was so busy with my teething baby the first time that I didn't really spend the time with the material that I needed to.

I took time off first. Helped my baby develop a schedule (with scheduled naps), and then got to it! I studied every time he napped and after I put him to bed.

I went back over all of Hurst, and then retook the Q review using an iPAD (I enlarged it, so I couldn't see what I chose the first time). I carefully read rationales and took notes.

I focused on weak areas. I used CDC to learn infection control. I reviewed over Saunders and did the practice test at the end of the book and carefully reviewed those rationales.

I applied test taking strategies, that REALLY helped..... like if there are polar opposites in a question, one is usually the right answer... if there is one "odd man out," and the other 3 are the same, usually that's the answer.... I relied on MASLOW and ABCs a lot for priority and delegation. Oh and I reviewed over the 35 page study guide a few days ago.

Made sure to get PLENTY of rest last night.... Didn't study much yesterday.... stayed calm as possible :-) Also, prepared to fail, but hoped for the best. Didn't put too much pressure on myself. :-)

congrats!! just knew my official result today,. PVT works!

Congrats to you Lillian11, you did well. Job well done. I am so happy for you. Celebrate your victory and be the best Nurse you can be.

Hi Lilian11! I also had my exam yesterday. It stopped at around 252 questions. There was A LOT of SATA and EKGs. I was prepared for 265 and when it shut off earlier than I expected, I was devastated because I think the computer gave up on me. :( I cried in the front desk of the building and it was embarrassing! I hope I will not come back there again. :/ Anyway, I did the PVT and got a good pop up. It gave me some hope that I passed the exam. Good luck to both of us! :)

Congrats early! You passed. I had my friend do the PVT for me when I finished my exam because I was too nervous to do it myself. I can still hear her scream "You did it!" LOL!
