Failed 7th time NCLEX RN. Am I a really a failure?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello everyone, I took my exam on 9th. I came home and pop up didn't work, I had put a post here and was suggested to wait for official results. I got them today and it said I failed yet again! I just don't know what to do? Where to study from? My second time I had tried Kaplan, last few times studied on my own, this time had a tutor and bought ncsbn but only did little but out of it. I just don't know where I'm going wrong. I feel so bad for my parents who are soo supportive yet I keep giving them same news. PLEASE HELP ME. I WOULD REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

I live in philadelphia, if someone wants to team up to study.

I feel soo devastated, I just keep asking myself if I'm really a failure? How can I not do this in 7th time! How dumb could I be??

I have taken NCLEX twice and failed. I cried my heart out after i got the result and start to think positive. Now, i am ready to study again after 4months break of studying. I don't know where to begin? =(=(=(

hello i have a similar situation. please e-mail me and if possible we can study together. i dont know how to contact . im unsure if u can send anemail address

Hi :)

I see that you have failed nclex for the 7th time and I think this is because of your study methods. I have not been in your shoes, but I understand how hard the process is. I only took it once and I will NEVER forget the 3 months of studying nonstop and how stressed out I was.

Throughout college I have had test anxiety, I have ignored it for a long time until I got pretty severe, it lead to panic attacks. I couldn't ignore it anymore, I decided to see psych bc they can prescribe meds. I got started on anxiety meds. I took it 3 months before nclex and stopped when I passed nclex. As soon as I took the anxiety med all my stress, worries, anxiety just disappeared I wasn't sure if I felt better because I knew I was taking something for it( like a placebo effect) or if it really worked lol. I am not saying you should go and see meds because I don't know if you have test anxiety. There are a million ways to decrease anxiety but I didn't have time and nerves for anything.

It was time to study for the nclex: I had no idea where to begin. I didn't want to study content , there's no way I can learn 4 years of nursing school in short time frame , I also knew that I learned a lot of content in school but I only remembered a small percentage.

So I decided to start doing questions -- I must have bought 6+ nclex books, Kaplan, Saunders, and so many more. I read so many posts about how great these books were and how it helped others pass nclex-- so I figured if I have them all , and read them all I am going to master nclex.

I realized that i did not have time to read all these books, so i decided to stick with one book, this way I would not get confused.

I started with 50 questions per day with tv on, terrible scores, read the rationales. I kept doing this for 2 weeks straight! Every 2 questions my eyes were focused on the TV! My scored were terrible, I started feeling pretty stupid and that's when anxiety kicked in! I was thinking holly crap, I know know nothing! Time was flying, so the next day I went to Starbucks every single day, ear plugs, and started reading questions and rationales carefully! I was more focused and energetic. My scored when watching TV below 50! My scores with no tv, distractions above 70! I started with 50 questions, to 100, 150, 300!

Whenever I got a question wrong, especially when you get many questions wrong about the same disease- that's when you know that you should review the content and that's exactly what I did!

Read the questions carefully, read them twice if you have to, breakthrough questions down, eliminate the answers one by one, read the rationales, sometimes the rationales reach you how to select priority questions.

I think Nclex is all about test taking skills and a little knowledge! Sad but true.

Do not give up, I understand that failure is not easy to overcome , I also know that it can be hard to start studying from the beginning. You have an advantage now, you have seen the test many times, not you have a better idea about the questions and the content.

Please feel free to send me a message with any questions. Best of luck, be strong!

where did you get the study guide? I am a repeat test taker too and I need all the help I can get!this is my 3rd time:( @ctbui

we can do this! may i know if what state are u in? because i falied 3 times in FL and they are requiring me to take remedial. just wondering if what did you do in your case?

The only thing i can say is...take your 8th exam as it is your first. If u think of your 7 failures while you are taking your 8th exam, it will make your score worse. I know it's not easy. I also failed in my first. Relax your mind before the exam. Study harder and pray harder instead of asking what went wrong with your 7 attempts.

God bless you.

I saw on the IBN somebody who was facing the board for failing it for 15 times. They graduated in 06. I think you will protect your license like a treasure once you get it due to the struggles you have been through to get it. All the best!

As the person who posted this thread hasn't been back in over two years....I'd say it's likely that he/she still doesn't have a license.
