Failed 1st Time- NEED NEW PRACTICE QUESTIONS

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey Everyone,

So unfortunately I failed NCLEX the first try and am in need of some new questions to help me prepare for the next attempt! I psyched myself out during the exam which is what I mostly attribute to my results (considering I prepared exactly how I was supposed to with the Kaplan prep course and test schedule).

I took the Kaplan prep course and so I have already done all of their practice tests and qbank questions (which with all of the attempts I have now memorized the answers which is no help).

Does anyone know any other NCLEX prep question sets that are helpful and worth purchasing? I saw there was one called uworld (or something like that).

Any advice or answers would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks!- Kelsey

What was your average score on your QBank & Trainer tests? Did you remediate every question, even the correct ones? I felt remediating the questions is what helped me to understand why the answer was correct.

Hmm..you said you psyched yourself out. Perhaps, there is an issue with test anxiety that you need to work on first before just moving onto the next set of nclex resources. Even if you find another resource, will that stop you from "psyching" out during the next attempt at nclex?

Test anxiety will hurt any exam. I heard of a nightmare story of a girl that failed the NCLEX several times and finally passed after taking xanax. Good luck for next time.

I really can't recommend UWorld enough. I used quite a few sources while studying for the NCLEX, but UWorld was far and away my favorite. They offer a 1 week free trial (you get access to their entire test bank), and then you can choose to renew if you like it. It's worth checking out. Their rationales are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Other than that, try not to let your anxiety get the best of you - make sure to take time to unwind, relax, and be kind to yourself. You CAN do this. You got through nursing school and made it this far already. You got this! :)

The link you posted didn't work.. is there something I can search instead to access what you posted! Thanks so much in advance:)

Psyching out probably wasn't the right word... more I got discouraged and starting rushing through - I didn't realize how common it was for people to get 265 questions so I think just doing more research and realizing how common it is has helped. A large portion of my fiends past in 75 so I think that kind of got in my head but I think just doing more research has totally helped.

Ah thank you!!! I will definitely look into it!!! I have remediated the kaplan questions to the point of where I can quote it now so having a new bank of questions is going to be great! really appreciate the advice!!!

Try the free NCLEX mastery app. There are at least 15 exam-like tests and a 45 med-surg quiz that was great. There is an option to purchase for $29.99 for more questions.

I also used RN Mentor Lite which gives you 5 questions at a time; I used it whenever I was out with family & friends but wanted something quick to do.

Not a lot but its a start

The NCLEX mastery app is all I used. They have great questions with rationales.
