After failing three times, having difficulty studying more...anyone else feel this way?

Hi!

My name is Melissa and I graduated almost two years ago with summa cum laude. All through school, I studied for tests and if I put in the time studying, I got really good grades without a problem.

However, the NCLEX has been a different story. I have now taken it three times and I have recently registered to take it a fourth time, but it's getting really difficult to stay motivated. I have done kaplan, virtual ATI, worked with a tutor here in the Kansas City area, and done thousands of questions. I've gotten to a point where the thought of picking up a book again is sort of depressing. Most of the people I graduated with are pursuing graduate degrees now and I'm still trying to pass this test.

Quite frankly, it's very lonely, and i think it would be SOoOo helpful to find other people who are in a similar situation. Sometimes, walking down a path that feels daunting can feel way less daunting if you can do it with other people.

Has anyone else found themselves failing multiple times and come close to giving up and then passed? Any suggestions?

Hello I am in the same shoe as you. But I am taking the nclex pn for the forth time OMG . I already have my att# but I haven't scheduled my test. It is so depressing to even pick up a book to review for this test. I have tried to study but my mind wouldn't let me feel good about this test. I had all but one part above passing and then one part was below passing which was basic care... OMG that was one I knew. My last test was April 2 2015 so now I have to pull myself together to pass this test. The reason why I stop posting on here was all the mean posting from people about retaker of the test. Some people are good test takers and can get it but not me. I used Kaplan , ATI, ncsbn, Saunders but I was all over the place with so many people telling me how to study and giving books from RN ...

Damn, that scares the pants off of me that you can't pass this exam. I graduated cum laude and I'm so scared for this exam if someone with

NCLEX is nothing like nursing school. You don't have to be the top of your class to pass it.

It wasn't the time thing it was I don't know how to break down the questions for the test. Nobody ever showed me so now I been reading the book that Kaplan has about breaking down the questions. I was just jumping at questions not knowing what they wanted from nclex world. No test anxiety for me just didn't know how to answer the questions

I can totally relate! I did totally great in school but I have failed this Nclex a few times. I am retaking in a little over a week and not sure what to do. I took Kaplan and several other prep classes. I took an exit Hesi and passed it easily. I get test anxiety and don't know how to get past it. This test was built up to be the BIG BAD EXAM all through school so now I get so nervous I just blank. I have been out of school now for a couple years and I work for a wonderful doctor but just can't get past this last exam!!

What I am doing is labs...writing them over and over and reading Kaplan book...just a few questions a day

When you studied for NCLEX did you read rationales? Maybe tried to see why you get it right or wrong.

I graduated with honor also. I passed my PN on first attempt. On the other hand, it took me 2 tries to pass my RN.

Being an honor student, it shows that you have a high chance to pass the exam. However, nothing is set in the stone. Anxiety, nervousness, lack of sleep and etc can interfere your thought process. Therefore, the test result wouldn't be satisfactory.

I was once a teacher. So I know one of those days my top students didn't get a good grade because of sh...t happen.

Please don't get discourage.

The way I passed the second try; I took ncbsn course for 3 weeks. I read everything from first to last page and did every question possible... repeated the test one time and read rationale.

I also did Lacharity priority book. I did every chapters but only 5 case studis.

Good luck on your next try. You can do it.

Mnemonics help you memorize the parts of the brain, the neuron, neurotransmitters as well as Erkison, Freud and Piaget's stages. Maybe mnemonics will help. You can do it!
