MCC nursing applicants for 2015

U.S.A. Michigan

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.:up:

Yes it is! I honestly was wanting to apply for the program asap so I decided to take both at once.

What will your gpa be?

From the looks of it, many people are applying with a 4.0 or very close this year. Kind of ruins my hopes :(

@smyles

The BP cuff was only used for one day during lab. I was only one of a few that actually brought one; everyone else used the ones that are in lab and it wasn't a problem at all.

No don't think that way, I actually know a lot of people who are applying and do not have a 4.0.

Whew that makes me feel a bit better. Has any of your friends taken the hesi this year? Im so anxious about it :(

Somewhere between 3.5-3.6 if all goes as planned. Hoping I do well enough on the Hesi exam.

I have a friend who was one of the last match starts accepted IN 2013 She had a 3.3 and a 90 HESI. A low GPA isn't the end of the world as long as you score high on your hesi.

I also know someone who scored very low on their hesi; they had an 80 but still got in because of their 4.0.

ALSO St Clair county community college just became accredited in 2013 which is a huge reason for the lower applicants the past two years. In 2012 there was 700, in 2013 500 and I'm not 100% sure but someone told me in 2014 that there was only 300

Well that's very encouraging! I guess I'll study my butt off for the Hesi exam. Thanks for sharing that insight with us :)

Hey guys! Sorry I've been away for awhile. Thank you giggy2 and bayliedynell for your input! Really helps a lot. If all goes well, I will be applying with a 3.93. I got a B+ in Intro to Nursing with a 91.5%. STILL UPSETS ME! My "professor" really didn't want to be there 75% of the time... so we taught ourselves. I have Micro right now, and currently have a 97%, so I'm hoping to keep my A for 2 more weeks. Can't wait till it's over. Then I will start the studying for my HESI on January 7th. Good luck, everyone!

You'll do well. I'm so worried about the Hesi because I don't have a very high gpa and I really need a high Hesi score to be accepted I'm so nervous!!!
