MCC nursing applicants for 2015

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been obsessively reading over the threads for the 2013 and 2014 applicants, but I thought I'd see if anyone will be applying to the Nursing program at Macomb Community College for 2015. I am a transfer student from Texas and will be taking A&P this summer then intro to Nursing (since MCC requires that you take their specific course) and micro in the Fall. I'm so excited to get back into school and was wondering if anyone is following along the same timeline.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, good luck to you! I do have a questions about the hesi, does the math part have fill in the blank answers? Some people say yes and no, so not really sure what to expect. Also which section did you start with?

Thanks for sharing!! I do have a question, so I heard there are a lot of questions on hormones, is that true?? Also, what to expect in the different sections on the Hesi??

Just because there were only 9 test dates doesnt really mean much me n my cousin had the same test date at the same time we thought we would both be in the same room WRONG she was in a room with about 25-30 applicants it was about 32 applicants in my room and I think it was another hesi sectiom too almost sure

Hope this helps

Math - ha things such as converting househod measurements mlitary time know how to add subtra t multiply and divide fractions decimals know how to find ratios it was quite a bit on the test. Know how to convert again say for instance they ask you 50kilograms equal to how many milligrams it was alot of those on there as basics -everything the boom covers for math is on there percentages too only thing I dont rmbr seeing is algebra much

Reading comprehensin -i did this last and I regret it nkw the readings are long and boring and they basically ask wu things about the story whats tbe main idea in such n such paragraph

Vocab-study alll tbe words in the book memorize thm it will be other words but if u read the sentence u can usually use context clues to. Narrow the meaning down

Grammer- was dead on with the book I didnt do so well because I didnt study the frammer section at all until about 20mins before the test

Last but not least the ANP portion lots of questions on muscles hormones locations on the body example… the book wasnt good for this know as much as u can know and pray god gives you questions you are strong in I received a 84 on the test but my gpa was a 3.471 the hesi means ALOT I dont want to get anything under 90% this time and I hope im able to apply with 3.7 gpa this time retook english good luck everyone on finals

That makes sense. Did the math have fill in the blank answers that you have to actually type, and are not given multiple choice? Some people I spoke to this year said half of their math was fill in the blank.

Yes I would say 50% of them are fill in the blank but they are things like make 3/4 a decimal and then yiu type your answer into the blank

Thanks everyone for the insights for the Hesi exam. I am hoping everyone does well and we all get to eventually meet one another while working towards our career goals in the nursing program

I'm nervous! Can't wait to see how everyone does!

Is nutrition also a pre req ? I took a nutrition class but its only 2credits I dread having to retake this class. Good luck to all :)

Its a pre req for the program, but you dont need it to apply. I think you just need a C or better :)

Yes, what mperczi said. ^^^ My last day of Nutrition is tomorrow! Woo.
