Hi, I graduated last year from LVN school..I had two jobs so far..The first one lasted about 2 months and my second job lasted 5 months..Both jobs ended in termination..Both jobs women were the majority and the supervisors..I feel maybe it is discrimanation..

OK, I'll bite. Why do you think it's discrimination?

Could it be incompetence instead? You have posted in the past about problems you have had throughout your career and appear to accept no responsibility for your actions. We can't learn from our mistakes if we don't own them (believe me-I have made my share and continue to try to learn from them and not to repeat the same ones again and again) Good Luck

No, it is not incompetence..I would not lasted 5 months doing stuff by myself if it was..The supervisor noticed my charitng..To me, the female nurses charted the same way I did and there was nothing better about their charting compared to mine!! Also, there was a woman LVN who was so incompetent on doing things that she is still there and I am gone!

I do not like your tone..If you are a male, you would know that there is discrimation for male nurses..If you don't think so, then so be it..The world works more complicated then you think..

So, you were fired from two positions because of your charting? I'm truly trying to understand, but I'm not getting how you came to conclude that your termination was due to discrimination.

No, I'm not a man, but I have worked w/many RNs and LVNs who were men, and I'd be willing to bet that most of them get a fair shake.

I've read your posts thru the past several months or longer, and you do seem to often be in a position of thinking that everyone's out of step but you.

This is just an observation, and a suggestion that you look within yourself before deciding it's everybody else's fault. Find out what you need to change, and then work on that.

Not once during school OR in practice have I seen males discriminated against. If anything, they're in demand.

Seriously, you should take a look back at your previous posts and hopefully see the pattern that others have seen.

I'm a male RN and I've never been discriminated against. I find most female nurses enjoy having a guy in the mix. It is a different environment than I'm used to. I work on boats and in the marine industry some on the side and use to work construction. You have to have a little more tact in dealing with all female coworkers, not a negative comment, it' s just that we are different creatures.

Bala, I've been around this planet for the better part of a half-century, and one of the things I've learned in that time is to pay attention when more than one person is telling me the same thing. That's when I have to consider that maybe, just maybe, I could be wrong........or my way isn't the correct way.......or something I'm doing may be producing the problems I'm experiencing.

The members are giving you some excellent advice. While I know it doesn't feel good to be criticized, you really ought to pay attention to what people are saying. After all, you did ask for advice, and with your history of difficulties in school and your early nursing career---many of which you have documented here---it would be worth your while to step back and re-assess your situation.

Good luck to you.

Male RN's earn significantly more than women RN's: $48,300 on average for men, compared with $45,100 for women.

Male nurses where I work are highly respected and well treated besides making more money. If I were to complain, but I'm not, I'd say the female nurses are being descriminated against.

You have to have something more to go on than just the fact the women were in the majority.

As soon as I saw your name as the OP, I thought back to other posts you had made when you were having difficulties in school and on at least one other job. It does seem odd that you would continually run into people who are out to give you a hard time.

It could be that you have a way of communicating that puts people off. And the sad thing is that you might not know it. The folks around you might not be able to put it into words either.

So there you are. You can feel defensive and walk around expecting trouble. Or you could do constructive things like getting counseling, seeking the input of people you trust, and taking a long, hard look at your previous posts and seeing if there might be ways you could change your approach.

I feel bad for you. This obviously is not the way you intended for things to turn out.
