    Just introducing myself. I'm 25 and starting career #3. Let's hope 3rd time's a charm.

I'll graduate in May 2005 and then probably move to Denver. I want to work ED (but possibly ICU) in a major hospital in an urban area.

Being single and around all these ladies would be awesome if I had time to date any of them!

Oh Agent, that stinks! I'm pretty anal about calling and checking on things, and double-checking, and triple-checking. Been screwed over by busy college office folks before, so live and learn I suppose.

Good luck... I'm about *this far* from not getting to enroll in my nursing program this year, stupid onlien chemistry course that I don't think I'm going to pass (SO not like me).

    Hi All!

I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.

I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.

When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.

So I want to know are there any men out there?
Here another one from Walla Walla, WA. I am in a class of about 60 women. In this class we are about 10 guys. Sometimes in clinicals is kind of hard trying to get your voice be heard. But just have to go with the flow, be patient and don't get frustated. This is been fun so far:roll

well, finally decided to register, I have been a lurker for some time, but just clicked on the "student" forum

22yr old male, graduated last may with a BBA on Management Information Systems in fort worth, tx. ended up in jax. My wife is a nurse, and i worked as a translator for a couple of years on a county hospital in fort worth for a while in college, which actually gave me a LOT of knowledge of stuff i would never imagine at the time (worked night shifts during weekends, and covered all areas, mostly ER, but i did admissions and discharges, some L+D classes for moms going home and a lot of other depts exp)
So after working for a mayor financial company, and now with a mayor bank, I have decided better to go ahead and get a BSN while im young. So, im taking the prereqs this fall and spring semester and hopefully starting the accelerated program on may 05. Good to see there is a good number of male nurses in these forums. We should get our own Guys sub-forum

    Hey Guys,

At the ripe old age of 37, I've finally figured out that I want to be an RN. Actually, I've thought about it for many years and finally decided to GO FOR IT! I'm graduating with a BS (hey ma, it only took 20 years ) in another field in a couples of weeks. I'm starting my Nursing prerequisites in the summer and hope to get accepted into a program next fall (2005). I'm discovering that Nursing programs are very competitive to get into. I attended an information session for a 2nd degree BSN program a few weeks ago and learned that 250 people applied for the 70 slots in the class that starts this fall. So, I plan to apply to that program plus the regular BSN program at that school as well as to an ASN program at a community college. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I'll be accepted into one of these programs.

I was also surprised today when I went to register for a summer A&P class at the community college. Registration actually started TODAY and, at 9:30 AM when I tried to register, I learned that the class was already full. I mean GEEZ!!! Fortunately, there were seats in the Psychology and Philosophy prerequisites I need. Lesson learned. Next semester I'll register at 12:01 am the day registration begins.

    Corey,
Don't be so intimidated by the number of applicants and available slots. As long as you do well on the prereq courses, you will have a good chance to get accepted. I just graduated in January with a BS in another field. Last fall, I had to take one last class to complete my BS. I also registered for anatomy and physiology classes at another school at the same time. Right now I am taking Microbiology and Chemistry. In February, I applied for an MSN-E at this school in California, where I had to compete with 300 other applicants for 30 slots. Guess what, I got accepted a couple of weeks ago :hatparty: . So make sure that you do well on those pre-req and be prepared if you had to come in for an interview.
    Good luck

Well I will be in 13 months anyway. I've been accepted into 2 schools and need to make a choice pretty quick. In the one school I am the lone male in a class of 20. This is an accelerated BSN programs for folks who already have 1 degree. I'm also accepted into a traditional 2 year program BSN program. Either way I wind up with a 2nd bachelors and my wife(who is an RN BSN) and I can really "talk shop" then.

I envoy you young guys. I made the decision to go into nursing at 49 and just got accepted into an ADN program at Macomb. Yes, they are tough to get into.

Actually, I was registering online. I just didn't think that people would start so early on the day of registration (duh me!). Thanks for the well wishes.

    Hey Danny,

Thanks for the encouragement and insight. I plan to bust my a** to do well in my prerequisites. BTW, did you have to write an essay? I know that's also a big factor in the 2nd degree program I'm looking into.

    Congratulations on your acceptance!

That's a profound quote and so true. If only I had known 20 years ago what I know now... Congratulations to you on your acceptance and best of luck.
