Hi All!
I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.
I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.
When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.
So I want to know are there any men out there?
Hi all,
Another guy here. I was a marine and was discharged in 99. I went back to school and got my B.S. in Kinesiology in January 04. A friend of mine introduced me to nursing field and I thought this is interesting. So I sent out my application to Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA. for a MSN-E. I had my interview with them last week, now I just have to wait for the good news. I was the only guy at the interview and I was terrified. But I did pretty good job at answering all the questions. Pray for me gents....

Good luck Danny!
hi guys,
i'm a 23 yr old RN,BSN from Kerala, India.. i wonder if the guy nurses do stick on to nursing once they finish their studies.. or do they switch over, or feel like switching over, to any other field? i for myself, felt a bit confused whether nursing would be the thing i'd want to do for the rest of my life, and joined for a master's in microbiology.. i'll be finishing it in a couple of months, and i wonder whether it'd help me in a nursing career. i've cleared CGFNS exam, and hope to start working in the US in a couple of years..
any idea if my master's degree will be of any advantage to me in nursing career?
qrioz - welcome to the forum, it is nice to have you. A Master's degree is always helpful for career growth and advancement. I am not really clear what type of Master's degree you have ... is it in Nursing or is it in Microbiology?
I have been a nurse for almost 21 years. I started as a LPN at 19 years old. I think men that happen to be nurses are encouraged to move into management pretty early in their career. At least, that is my experience. Shortly after finishing my RN degree, I moved into management very fast. I also learned that being a nurse manager is not all glory ... nurse managers are probably some of the hardest working nurses out there. I am sure I will get flammed for this statment, but that is ok ( :chair: ). I made a decision that I was more comfortable being a staff nurse and working defined hours. Once my kids are grown up and in college, I might consider going back into management :uhoh21: , but for right now, I like having control of my life and the hours that I work .
Congratulations on your desire to become a nurse. From my experience, it is the single best decision I made in my life, next to having my three children. Good luck in your future. :balloons:
